Reviews on Italian food in Colonia del Sacramento, Colonia Department, Uruguay. The historic quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, founded in 1680, evokes old Lisbon with its Portuguese-influenced architecture and winding streets. The area, located in southwestern Uruguay on the Rio de la Plata, was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. It's an easy day trip by ferry from Buenos Aires, making the beaches a popular Argentinean escape. Had a wander around and chose this place for it's originality. Had not read other reviews before but now agree is overpriced for what you get. Ravioli was good but smothered in parsley. Chef (owner) Italian origin and cuisine too. Choice is very limited and I would be hesitant about seafood from a restaurant with little turnover ( unless from a freezer).

Un poco de modernidad al Barrio Historico, una ventana a la historia, la otra al rio.Calzonis, Chivitos, Carnes, Pastas y Pizzas.

We had a wonderfully tasty lunch at La Bohemia this past Sunday. The fresh homemade pasta (pumpkin gnocchi) was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The wine recommendation (an amazing tannat) was on point. The velvety cheese cake was great. Somewhat pricey, although I thought the same about most restaurants in Colonia regardless of their quality. As expensive or more than better restaurants in Montevideo and Buenos Aires. I don't get it. Well, same thing happens in Paraty (Brazil). Still, it's a solidly good restaurant with its emphasis on pasta, but also offering burgers, meats, etc. We enjoyed the relaxed, laid-back atmosphere.

I went in for the time on a friday night, asked for beer to take away, and they just said âsorry, no, we obly have a few ones leftâ. The following night we went in, looking for a dessert. We asked the waitress and she said âoh dessert? Uhm, no sorry, we donât have any left.No somos almacén, ni delivery, nuestros clientes se sientan a comer aquÃ. No brindamos el servicio que ustedes pretendÃan.

I just had "sorrentinos", a kind of stuffed pasta which is very popular, it was tasty, but rather simple. Nobody seems very keen in having more clients, many tourists.

We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the âBarrio Surâ, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wi
We visited this place for a couple of hours on a rainy afternoon. We tried ten different wines between us accompanied by a range of local cheeses and other snacks. The staff couldnât have been more helpful and friendly and really added to the experience. The wine bar is cosy inside but it added to the ambience and the open door and windows kept it cool inside on a humid day. It was a great place to relax and try local wine and food. As a non-meat eater, I appreciated the veggie option in the food menu. The bar itself is situated on Coloniaâs most photographed street so itâs a great location but nice to be tucked away from the tourists outside.

After reading all the great reviews I came here on a rainy day and thought I found the wrong place. It looks a little like a cafeteria rather than a gourmet restaurant. Don't let looks deceive you...this place is fabulous! The waitress is exceptionally pleasant and even when the restaurant filled up she was not stressed and didn't change her attentiveness. The food is fabulous! I had the pork and plum ravioli. It was shredded pork inside...fabulous! Fresh, delicious and didn't make me feel overstuffed like some pasta does.Loved it!
