At the top of Bavaria and dating back to at least the 11th century, Coburg sat undiscovered by many late 20th century tourists, surrounded as it was on three sides by the former East Germany. The town’s main attraction, impossible to miss since it overlooks the town, is the 13th century Veste Coburg Castle, one of Germany’s largest and most beautiful. Sometimes called the Franconian Crown, today it’s home to three museums. Reformer Martin Luther, then an outlaw, spent five months here in 1530.

Leckeres Eis, selbstgemacht.

Maccaroni was one of these large and strange decorated restaurants. My expectation was not too high BUT Service was fast and very friendly. I had one of the better pizzas in my life and an outstanding red. Good starters and enough choice. Not a gourmet place but very good "standard food".

Great atmosphere, authentic Italian pizza and the place is clean!!! Prices were great and the portions were good. Staff was friendly and they spoke English and Italian- BONUS since I don't speak any German. Had some awesome pizza- best I've ever had. Will definitely return if I am ever in Coburg again!!

Not everything went well today, and I permitted myself to inform the owner about the plates being dirty with fingerprints, a hair in the pasta, and the lack of time co-ordination (starters came with 20min time difference). He started to react aggressively, bragging with a women of the cityâs health department sitting in the next room (allegedly) complaining about our table to his stuff (âthey think they are kingsâ, âdo they think we are monkeysâ, and so on).All in all not a great loss, as I do not plan to return, ever...NO credit cards accepted!

We never expected to find such wonderful Italian cuisine in the small Bavarian city of Coburg. I saw a sign pointing to it at the corner of the famous Apothek on the main square and decided to investigate. You could easily miss it, so standing in the town square, face the centuries old Apothek and go down the street to the right of it. Dal Passacore is on the left-hand side. It's a small restaurant with take-out also available. From the long menu we ordered Antipasto Rustico which turned out to be roasted vegetables and other vegetarian goodies. Just delicious as a starter. I followed with Scaloppina al Limone and the veal was good and a good-sized portion but good, not great. My husband had the Calamari al Pomodoro with pasta but he found the calamari to soft and mushy for his taste and left it. For dessert, we shared a Tartufo that melted in our mouths! Fantastic! The total with 2 glasses of wine and water was 55.50 euros.Despite the disappointment with the calamari, we thought the rest of the meal so good that we went back the following night. They were surprised to see us, particularly since my husband had left so much of his main course. The second night we we shared an Insalata Mista and a Pizza Capricciosa. Both were wonderful. And of course we had to have the Tartufo again. With two glasses of wine and a bottle of water, the total came to under 29 euros. Staff is friendly and efficient. A nice neighborhood restaurant and there were clearly regulars. I'd go weekly if I had this restaurant near me!

Very good concept for a small family restaurant. Husband is cooking ( best calamari ala putanesca in the world) and the wife takes care about guests. Dora & Donato i am your big fan!Igor
