Things to do in Chieming

Nice place with a view into the lake. The food is decent, lots of choices from pasta to pizza. Sometimes they have meal deals. The service is a little hit and miss not all the waiters are on the ball. The road can be a little noisy but it's difficult to beat that view. And you can people watch too.

It began with a nice welcome by the chef and his offer of the specials of the day. The menu is not big but outstanding. You can't find grey gurnard or grey mullet very often on a menu especially in Bavaria. And both are very well presented and absolutely top prepared. It was a wonderful meal. Also the dessert was fine, Sachertorte with some whipped cream on the side. We will go tomorrow again and are really looking forward to it.

After an hour walk through Traunstein we stepped into this restaurant as my wife showed me the sign "Summer-terrace".What a small beautiful colored place that was. And such a nice and friendly service and the cod cucumber soup with cheese and Wasabi was a "HIT!"Next time we will go for dinner there whenever we shall be in Traunstein again.

We were staying just a few hundred meters from this place and decided to give its take-away a try.... place was full, anyways (better reserve if you want to try it). Waiting was 35 mins so kind of reasonable considering the density of people inside. We had four Pizze, all of some special kinds, and four salads. The salads were a bit small but fresh and crunchy and the Pizze were delicious although still German style with a thick dough.
This is a small Italian restaurant just off of the Main Street in Chieming and been there for at least 30 years. Have eaten there for many years and always loved it. Visited last week and were very disappointed. The greeting was unfriendly and clearly we were an inconvenience to the Hostess/Owner. she "allowed" us to take one of the many empty tables grudgingly and then made us wait for 15 minutes before she came to take our drink order. It took another 15 minutes to get the drinks and they were not busy! They finally took our food order and in the meantime another table of people left because the service was so slow. Today she refused to take a request for reservation for 12 people & claimed she didn't have that much space even though they have a large garden area with plenty of seating. She was unfriendly on the phone so I hung up.

Rather small restaurant not far from the market place. We had a limited luncheon for a small appetite, with a nice spaghetti bolognese with lamb with light Italian white wine from Orvieto. Tasted very nice at a tiny but relaxed terrace. They have a small card but varied daily menu. And the waiter was very helpful. Prices are okay.

The location is to die for, the staff very competent and the food is way above the usual pizzeria chow ! The prices are well in line with the quality - definitely not the tourist trap someone suggested. It can get mighty crowded outside an a warm summer evening, so be prepared to either wait or to go the "community table route" meaning ask the guests at a partially occupied table if it's ok to sit. It's the Bavarian way!
