All-you-can-eat multi-station marketplace buffet, located in the Elrod Commons student center at Washington and Lee. Vegetarian and vegan station, Daily Dish, Grill, Deli, Pizza Oven, Salad Bar, Soups, fresh-baked desserts, and more!
Dining at the Marketplace is perfect if you want to grab something to go or if you want to sit and enjoy a meal. It is welcoming to all diets with a fresh salad bar, sandwich creation station, vegetarian and vegan dishes, along with an entire gluten free section. You can also count on the Marketplace for perfect pizza and pasta with daily changing creative toppings and sauces, but with plain options always available. Two types of soups are also an option everyday starting at 11 am. Breakfast is excellent on the weekdays with eggs and a rotation of breakfast meats and potatoes (best hash browns ever!) . There is also oatmeal, fruit, and avocado toast for those on the health grind. However, if you are planning on coming to the Marketplace for an extra special breakfast, I would highly recommend the weekend brunch. It is spectacular! Equipped with the usual eggs, meat, and potatoes, there is also an omelet station, french toast or some other sweet dish, and the best biscuits and gravy you will ever try. In fewer words: you can't go wrong at the Marketplace.

We dragged ourselves out of the rain, starving, after a long day of hiking. The staff was very patient as we decided what we wanted to order and helpful in putting our food in plastic bags to help make it 2 blocks to our car in torrential downpours. Food was hot and delicious!
I have been to the Lexington Pizza Hut twice now. On both occasions, in less than an hour, the deep dish pizza reappeared, transformed to a coarse liquid. I hate to be graphic, but cannot overstate the distress of these experiences. The only highlight was Otis Redding on the jukebox. Brought new meaning to "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay."

I wish we had taken a photo of the horrible pizza we threw in the trash! So we ordered three take-out pizzas for our guests at our home. Our first mistake was that we failed to look at the pizzas prior to leaving the restaurant. When we walked into the restaurant, there was no one to assist...anywhere. So we asked the cooks at the open window where the employee was. She finally appeared, seemingly rushed, although there were very few guests in the dining room (which, in our opinion, needs a complete renovation). I'll cut to the chase, without a narrative of the looks on the faces of our guests as they opened the three boxes. The pizzas appeared to be dry and certainly not FRESH! You all know what a fresh pizza looks like. This was not it. The crust was burnt on one, there was no pepperoni on another, and to tell you the truth, overall, all three pizzas looked as though they had been sitting out for a day or two. Literally, sitting out!Of course, the taste is most important, and all three pizzas were sub-par. That's putting it mildly. Our guests graciously ate one or two slices, and though they had mentioned how hungry they were from the start, most of all three pizzas remained untouched. We were disappointed. Embarrassed, actually. Dominos, Pizza Hut, and Papa Johns are far superior.Embarrassed and disappointed yet again. Yet again because since Salernos is under new ownership for a couple years or more, the quality of the food, as well as the makeshift environment, has gone 'way south. They have turned the main, street-side entrance and space into an ugly arcade, which actually appears to be an unfinished basement for college kids, with a sign pointing to the left, where customers have to walk up several outdoor stairs, which UNWELCOMINGLY (is that a word?) leads into an area with first, a restroom door, then a small desk where you are supposed to be greeted. The times we have visited, there is never anyone AT that desk. You'll find the large dining room to the back of the second floor. The decor/atmosphere leaves much to be desired. The service is hit-or-miss.For years, under previous ownership/management, Salernos was the ever-popular "happening place" for college students, VMI cadets, busloads of visiting athletes, as well as locals. Salernos was an ICON in Lexington! You dined on the first floor which was very cool, as there were rows of various tee shirts hung along the top of the walls, and a quite pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy your meal. The place was booming! Everyone we knew would often dine at Salernos for lunch or dinner, and walk away satisfied. It's unfortunate the present owner hasn't upheld the same standards. Sadly, Salernos is no longer that. To continue our story about our three pizzas...I actually threw all three pizzas in the trash. Pizza #1 had 1/2 remaining, pizza #2 was 3/4 remaining, and pizza #3 had only one slice gone. Never have I tossed a pizza in the trash. Until now.As locals, this will unfortunately be our last visit to Salernos. I will say that we are Trip Advisor's top contributors in the area. And I earnestly hope that your experience reaches far beyond what our's has been.Dine elsewhere.

Rocca Bar Ristorante is located on the second floor of the Robert. E Lee Hotel and overlooks Lexington's Main Street. The Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop lends itself to a lively and informal atmosphere - la dolce vita (the sweet life)! The cuisine is farm t
After a long day touring and traveling, this was a welcoming restaurant in the Robert E. Lee hotel where we were staying. There is an outdoor patio pictured, which is lovely and stretches from each side and the front of the hotel. there isn't much to watch on Main Street, but being outside was lovely. The craft cocktails were tasty, the home made pasta delicious. The meatball sandwich was good too.We are glad to see you enjoyed your meal here. Come dine with us again soon.

We have ordered pizza for "family night" on a regular basis. Frank's has a special price one night on large pizza's. I assume they have a huge takeout business that night. My suggestion is to order on any other night. There is a difference in quality (I assume from making so many in a limited time), but the regular pizzas are delicious . . .especially the vegetable ones!

It's bad enough that there aren't a lot of restaurants in Buena Vista, so I hate giving any of them bad reviews since I'm sure it doesn't help their economy, but this restaurant's food is definitely not up to par. They could do better. The restaurant building itself is much nicer than the Original Italian Restaurant, but that's where it ends. We come here about once a year to visit family, and the comparison between the two Italian restaurants in BV are quite different. The last time we were there, the wait staff seemed to be preoccupied and not on the ball. The food always leaves us disappointed. It's funny, because it seems they may do better business than the one downtown because of the ambiance. Maybe this restaurant can handle bigger parties, but their food isn't well cooked nor tasty. If you're looking for Italian and their competitor is open downtown, you'd be better off going there.

Got a delicious tuna salad (salad), and I had enough tuna to last me for three meals. They don't skimp here. My husband ordered the cheeseburger sub and he said the flavor was delicious and it was huge. Neither of these items was expensive. It's a little diner with linoleum floors, but it looks like the owner has tried to fix it up. The waiter was very sweet and helpful. The only complaint is the bathrooms in the back are through a long, dank hallway; but that's the nature of the building and something that can't be helped. I travel to BV about once a year and always stop here. My relatives who live in town also visit it. It is better than the competition in BV, for sure, with much better tasting, more AUTHENTIC tasting Italian food. Will continue to come here when we visit. Keep up the good work and please don't close down your restaurant! One of the better ones in BV.
