Stopped here for brunch with the kiddo's. The reviews are accurate in that the place could use a woman's touch. If you go, be patient with the service which although very friendly, not very good. But, the food is simply amazing. Best potato pancakes I have had outside of my own kitchen. Well worth the money. Highly recommend.

My group of 8 (me, my husband, my mother in law, my 3 kids, my son's girlfriend, and my daughter's boyfriend) had reservations for 5 o'clock. When I made the reservation for 5 o'clock, I explained that we needed to get my daughter to the airport for 7:30. I was told it wouldn't be a problem. We all arrived a little before 5 and checked in. I was told they were running behind and we would be seated in 15 to 20 minutes. I said that was fine but that we needed to get my daughter to the airport for 7:30. At 5:30 I approached the podium and asked how much longer as we were now 30 minutes past our reservation time and that we really needed to get this going. I was told sorry we overbooked. Like that's an excuse. 10 minutes later they finally called for our table. As soon as our server came over we explained that we were under time constraints and we ordered drinks, salad's, garlic bread, and appetizers immediately. Our waters and an iced tea were brought quickly. Our alcoholic drinks were brought shortly after that. We ordered our entrees and side dishes at that time. At 6:30 I had to go to the bar to try and find our server as ZERO food had arrived to our table. At this point we are 1 and 1/2 half hours past our reservation time and no food. We are nearly an hour past being seated and ZERO food. At the bar our server wandered by and saw me and said she was just coming to talk to us. Yeah sure. And talk to us about what?? She then told me that our food was going to start coming all at once. I went and sat down and ONE of our salads showed up. The second salad was never brought to us but it was on our bill when we were done. Maybe 10 minutes later more and more food is brought to us. We were not given plates. We were trying to fit the food on the little appetizer plates. We were not given plates until my husband got up and went looking for plates. So now we have bowls and bowls of entrees, appetizers, garlic bread, salad, etc all over the table. Our server disappeared for long periods of time. My daughter needed a napkin and had to get one from a stack of them on the dirty table behind us. At 7 my husband had to leave to take my daughter to the airport. They barely got to eat anything before having to leave. My husband told me to check the bill if they brought it before he got back because we never got our meatball appetizer either. So we are stuck sitting there waiting for my husband to get my daughter to meet up with her tour group. We decide to order dessert because he texted and said he would probably be an hour before he got back. So we finished eating, packed up the mountains of food ourselves, and ordered dessert. It now took 40 minutes to get two slices of cake and a sundae. My husband came back and was disappointed we didn't save him dessert. We laughed and told him it never even came yet. Anyway dessert came and we got the check. Our server told us that they took our appetizer trio off the bill. He told her that we were also charged for a salad and meatball we never got. He also told her that the entire experience was not good in the least. She took the bill again and took those items off and we did get 20 more bucks off the bill. Our bill was still nearly $400. I can say we actually had a pretty good time. It was good comedy if nothing else. I am very unhappy with not being able to see my daughter off at the airport for her overseas college trip. Mistakes happen but we never got more than "yeah we overbooked and are really busy". So if you eat here do not expect them to honor your reservation. I read another recent review that said the same thing. We ate here once before and it was really good and a fun experience. They blew it for Mother's day.ladybugpug, we're so very sorry to hear about your dining experience on your recent visit. Loved the vibe of this place....great lighting and style for a pleasant evening. The service from our waiter was top notch....efficient, friendly but not intrusive. My husband couldnât stop talking about his pesto pasta dish and my pizza was delicious. Well worth a visit if visiting Pittsburgh.

Enjoyed dinner with several couples on a Tuesday evening. Casual atmosphere with no charge byob policy (bring your own corkscrew as the one provided was barely functional and you will be expected to open it yourself). Waitress was pleasant but appeared to be the only one working which obviously made any personal service difficult and leads to extended wait so donât expect to get in/out quickly. Food portions are generous and my lasagna was very good -a lot of flavorful sauce which I like- disappointed with the Italian wedding soup - overly salted and the pasta in the soup was severely over cooked. Spouse ordered chicken Romano which was very tender and pleasant. Side of spaghetti could have been meal itself. Will need to save room for dessert next time as the options sounded attractive. Overall everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and the general consensus was 1905 definitely earned a repeat visit. Recommend.

We've been here before and always enjoy the atmosphere and food. Staff was nice and attentive. Their wedding soup is really good. I try to get something different each time we go and have never been disappointed. Give this place a try for some good Italian food!
Went here for lunch with my husband when we were working in Bellevue. My first remark was that their menu is HUGE. I mean, like pages of stuff from pizza to hummus, to pierogies. Almost too much. My husband ordered a Mediterranean salad and I ordered hummus and stuffed grape leaves. His salad was large and filled with stuff like artichokes, olives, feta, etc. His only complaint is that there was too much cheese, but I don't think most people would complain about that. The salad came with garlic toast that was amazing. The hummus was super yummy - just wish they had provided more pita (one is not enough). The grape leaves were disappointing. They were overcooked and mushy. I've heard that their pizzas are really good, but we didn't try it on this trip. This really isn't an eat-in restaurant - they only have two tables. It's not fancy, but the food is good (except for the grape leaves) and it was convenient for us. Will go back again to try some other stuff, especially the pizza.

Happily serving the community for over 4 years.
Had the munchies for pizza during the Steeler game SUN - checked out TripAdvisor and tried Luigi's - we were not disappointed - got one cheese and one pepperoni medium pizzas - picked them up instead of delivery - nice and hot when I got them home - between my wife, daughter and I it did not last long - gone by the end of the second half

Recently my wife and I, along with another couple went to Mia Madre in Avalon, Pa. The restaurant is small, so I'd recommend reservations, especially for a larger group or on a popular dining night. The interior is very charming, with a really personal, home-spun feel For appetizers we ordered the Fried Zuccini and the Brushetta. Both were excellent....and both in The Top 3 I've ever had. Each entree comes with choice of salad and pasta. For entrees, I ordered the Seafood and Peppers, while my wife ordered the Eggplant Parm. The seafood consisted of cod, shrimp, and calamari. The cod in particular was outstanding, while the calamari was significantly below average....very rubbery and chewy. Regarding the Eggplant Parm, my wife rated it as good, but could name a couple of recent meals at other establishments where she believed it was better based on texture and taste. The weak spot in the meal was the waitress table service, which beyond taking the order and delivering the food, was somewhat invisible, despite the place being relatively small, with seemingly plenty of staff. This was off-set by ownership, who stopped by our table 3-4 times to check in with us, and was actually the person who picked up our meal payments. Overall, even with a couple of blips, it was a nice experience, and we would return. As a side note, the restaurant only take cash....no credit cards. However, there is an ATM machine in the front entry way. I'm not certain if the service issue was the exception, but the personal touch of ownership, plus the decor, plus the quality of the food....some of which was exceptional...helped off-set that issue, and as stated previously, we would return for another meal.
