Settled by Europeans on Native American hunting grounds, the city of Baton Rouge has grown up under the influence of English, French, Spanish, and native cultures. The city is proud of its Cajun and Creole heritage, with clubs famous for playing the blues, and streets full of restaurants serving up everything from spicy Bayou foods to Caribbean home cooking. I made reservations for lunch on Christmas Day and was thankful that The Little Village was open. Our reservations were honored for the time reserved. Hostess escorted us to our table and gave us menus to review. The restaurant was very busy with patrons and servers. Our server, Erica, came quickly to take our drink order. We asked for water as I perused the wine menu. When Erica returned, I ordered our wine and Old Fashion along with Vilebread roasted garlic. The hot Vilebread is outstanding. This was an outstanding meal on a joyous day.

In Baton Rouge again for a High School Track meet and had a $20 dine-rewards coming so we picked Carrabba's instead of Outback or Bone-fish and it was excellent. We used their call-ahead seating feature and asked for 7:00pm , that is not really a reservation. When we arrived at 7 we were told there was a 45 minute wait, but since we used the call-ahead it would only be about 20 minutes for the 3 of us, and it was. This 20 minutes gave me a chance to order a drink at the bar and watch part of a basketball game. Found another perk at the bar, the bar tender told me they had a special on bottles of wine, $10 off. So, instead of the draught beer I was going to order I got a $34 bottle of Chianti for $24.For the three of us for dinner we had:- Shrimp & Scallop Linguine (really very good),Wood grilled Tilapia (excellent),- Fettuccine Weesie that had shrimp in an alfredo type white sauce (also very good),- and of course the rest of the bottle of wine I got at the bar.We saved room for two excellent desserts that we shared:- Tiramisu & Sogno di Cioccolata (like a double brownie deluxe) - pictures inserted below.Michelle & Brittany did a great jobaiting on us, and on Michelles's first day.Overall a very nice dinner out.

The meatballs were very good and my wife's Manicotti outstanding. However, my Spaghetti with Meatballs & red sauce was mediocre at best. Essentially angle hair pasta that was mushy and soggy. I could not taste the pasta for the hearty red sauce. Additionally, while the house salad was tasty, it was chopped so fine as to make it very hard to eat. Dull fork tines wouldn't pierce the leaves of the greens and we had to use bread to push it onto the forks. Decent service.

What do you get when you combine the talents of a former LSU lineman and a New Orleans-born Italian chef? The energy, passion and creativity that has produced the areaâs only Italian-Creole fusion restaurant, raising the bar for Baton Rouge dining.
I was so hungry for a steak and it was excellent! It was cooked just right, juicy and so very tasty! For side dishes it was more limited due to my being gluten free and allergic to olive oil. It it was amazing food! The service was very good! The music was loud and I donât know why there needs to be a tv on in every restaurant (four screens available for distraction from every conversation). But it was very good food.My friends shared a bread pudding dessert and loved it. A gluten free option would be wise - but I donât need the calories anyway. I highly recommend the food of all of the TVs and music wonât distract you!

My wife and I and another couple had dinner here on Saturday night. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Three of us had veal masala with a side of fettuccine Alfredo. The veal was very good, and the pasta was excellent - some of the best I have gotten in a restaurant. The Lawrence bread was also good. The service was not what I expected from a upscale restaurant. We had to ask for refills on our water. We all finished our first glass of wine and planned to order another glass, but it was not until the waiter was removing the plates that he asked if we wanted more wine. It was too late then. We had them split the ticket by couple, and the waiter did not get the split correct. There are other upscale Italian restaurants in the area, and I would go to one of them before returning to Gino's.

Locally Owned and Operated, Ninos Italian features a fresh, simple, and local approach to fine dining. Come experience our fresh rolled pastas, bread baked daily, and a truly unique made from scratch menu.
If you like a different take on the typical Italian restaurant, I urge you to try Nino's for dinner. After five dinner visits during which the food was not only consistently delicious but also perfectly prepared, Nino's has become one of our most favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge. I always get Nino's meat special, which is usually accompanied with pasta. The meat specials each time consisted of a cut of beef cooked medium rare, recommended by the chef but can be cooked to any preferred doneness, and accentuated with a light seasoning sauce that never overpowered the flavor of the meat. The accompanying pasta, cooked al dente and mildly seasoned, also seemed to complement the meat perfectly. My husband has always ordered the baked ziti with pork sausage. It is absolutely delicious, but since I usually want beef, I never order it. My favorite appetizer has to be the mussels, although the crab cakes are a close second. Although the caesar salad is wonderful, I can never pass on Nino's Caprese salad; the combination of the fresh buffalo mozarella's mild flavor and creamy-firm texture, the slightly sweet-acidic balsamic vinegar, and the sweet sliced tomatoes meld together for that perfect bite. And no meal would be complete, for me that is, without dessert. And Nino's does not disappoint. My favorites: the Tiramisu and the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. So the Tiramisu ticks off several boxes for me. Since I love coffee flavored desserts and chocolate, the Tiramisu is a perfect dessert for me. But not all Tiramisus that I have sampled are created equal. This one is pretty close to perfect â from the light dusting of unsweetened cocoa powder over the lightly sweet creamy mascarpone down to the base of lady fingers cookies soaked with just the right amount of coffee liquor. Yum. As for the just-out-of-the-oven soft oatmeal chocolate cookies served with freshly made crème chantilly (French whip cream) â pure heaven. The only negatives â that more crème chantilly should be served with the cookies; each bite should have its own small dollop. And the crème chantilly should be placed in its own cold dish to retain its consistency. Apparently, I am not the only person who thinks that Nino's food is awesome. The restaurant gets booked up fast on popular nights, Fridays and Saturdays. A call a week in advance usually can get you in. However if you have a large party, maybe five or six, consider reserving a couple of weeks ahead. The restaurant is quite small, and thus, it chooses to not accommodate more than a couple of large groups each weekend evening as it wants to leave room for other people to have the opportunity to sample its delicious, culinary offerings. As far as cost, Nino's is not a cheap meal. With one or two appetizers, an entrée, especially the meat special, and dessert (or two), my meal price easily reaches at least forty to fifty-ish dollars without alcohol.

My wife and i brough our son and daughter-in-law to this little restaurant in downtown Baton Rouge. It was Wednesday afternoon so parking was not an issue. Perhaps weekends would be different. We were seated and our waitress, Ashton immediately took our drink order. We ordered crabcake and Beef araceni for appetiziers as well as a loaf of their Italian bread. The crabcake (one one on the plate) was so-so. I've had better. The Araceni was vey good and large. We easily divided it up into fours. It was beefy with some vegetables covered with a few nice tomato sauce. The load of bread was to die for!! Very large in size, it came with roasted garlic, olive spread and olive oil. All four of us wiped it out in a matter of minutes, it was sooo good. I also had a cup of the lobster bisque. The bisque had a nice taste but there were no pieces of lobster in it. Our entrees consisted of veal parmigan, chicken parmigan, shrimp and pasta and chicken picatta as well as a side of baked lobster and mac cheese. We all had pasta with our entrée. .Each entree came with a side salad. All the entrees were very good. I found the chicken parmigan a little dry but mixed with the pasta, it was goodNeedless to say, with all those carbs, none of us could finish. The portions were very large. We finished it all off with bread pudding, compliments of the house in celebrating my son's anniversary. Total bill, with drinks and everything we had,was $210 which I thought was a bargin. Excellent meal. I highly recommend it and definitely will be back.

Wonderful food and service! Can't even remember how many years we've enjoyed this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and order the whole muffuletta. It's huge, so you'll have plenty left over. (They'll wrap it for you.) The bread is outstanding, with a nice balance to the meat and olive dressing. Outstanding!
