Reviews on Italian food in Assisi, Province of Perugia, Italy. Best known as the birthplace of St. Francis, Italy's patron saint, Assisi lies amid Umbria's rolling hills. Religious pilgrims have come here for centuries to visit the Basilica of San Francesco (where St. Francis is buried) and the Basilica of Santa Chiara (to see the tomb of St. Clare). Visit the Eremo delle Carceri to see caves where medieval hermits withdrew from the world. (You may find such solitude quite appealing—especially if you're here on a daytrip from Rome!)

We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere â truly a spot enjoyed by locals. But the food was even better than the ambiance. Very regional Umbrian menu with choices to suit most people ( my wife does not eat cingale). We had antipasti, bean soup, pasta with boar, pasta with local chickpeas, porchetta and the mixed dessert tray. All were great â the porchetta with onions was incredible.

After two weeks of pasta and pizza in Italy we needed a break and umami said they had micro brews and burgers. They are right near the edge of town and easy to access. Parking on site and across the street. We arrived around 7:40 pm on a Sunday and were seated anywhere we wanted. Even though we speak some Italian the servers spoke English and were very polite and considerate. They have 8-9 beers on tap from blondes, triple ipaâs, lagers and a coffee stout. Also have dozens of beers in bottle as well as mixed drinks. Burgers are original and come in stuffed or unstuffed categories w/ bun or without. I had a double ipa and it wasnât too hoppy. Very good. Burger was enormous and delicious. The co-owner, Luca, checked in on us a couples times. Heâs very nice and appreciative of your business. We watched him help with orders, bussing tables, seating people, but most of all he interacted with guests smiling and making sure they were ok. Loved this place and highly recommend. We would like to thank you for writing such a detailed review. You will be our very welcomed guests next time you come to Assisi :)

Restaurant with panoramic terraces
This restaurant had fantastic views and location (just up the hill from the Basilica di San Francesco). The staff was friendly, spoke english, and was helpful to first timers to Italy that needed help with menu items. Food was excellent and I would highly recommend to any one. Great classic Tuscan fare including a delicious Cinghiale stew!

We went on a warm day. We were there just when it opened for lunch and got a table inside. Great service as they also checked on nuts in the food since my wife is allergic. The food itself was awesome. Genuine Italian food with a modern twist. They also prepared special food for our baby boy! I highly recommend this place and it is among my favorites in Italy

My wife and I toured several cities in Italy for our 22nd. wedding anniversary and asked the locals for a nice and good ristorante. We booked dinner for the first night and we were so delighted by their food that we booked lunch the very next day prior to our departure. This ristorante has a five-star service; spectacular food and incredibly intimate ambience. If you are in Asissi, you must visit this gem.

This fun restaurant only served pork. Actually the enture interior is decorated with pigs in all shapes and sizes. We didn't understand the menu, but the employee kindly pointed and helped us. The selection of beer is good and we had a small glass of box wine on the side. Very informal and fun place.

Another extraordinary visit to the finest Enoteca in Assisi, all Italy and Europe. Nila is such a talented Master of Wine and she can explain all the history and qualities of each wine in a clear and easy to understand way which adds to our appreciation of the wonderful Umbrian wines and regional food specialities. We visit every year.

Located in the square behind main street. We took plate of local ham and cheese for starter. It is enough for two. For main course we selected gnocchi al Sagrantinio and tortellini with truffles. Of course local wine and water. For desert cheesecake and tiramisu (don't take it, not good). Price was â¬60. Now about service - you can wait ages for them, but could appoint traditional Umbria food.Dear clients,Thank you very much for your comment. We always try to do our best, but I hope you understand we always serve our food as fresh as it can be, and that's why when there are many clients, it's reasonable to wait for 20 mins more or less, afterall we are not serving fast food :) . About the tiramisù, we do it in a light way without mascarpone so that clients can enjoy it without worrying too much the heavy fat the traditional one contains, maybe there was some communciation missed that made it a bit unclear. I hope next time you can enjoy another dessert which tastes more closed to your expectation. Once again thank you for your comment and look forward to seeing you again and wish you a beautiful day! Best regards,

Steps from the historic central piazza. Family owned and operated. Local and fresh meals for breakfast and dinner. Coffee, pastries, local wine, beer and a full bar. Wood-burning fireplace for the chilly days and air-conditioned during the summer. Homemad
I had a very wonderful and delicious lunch here. Very much recommended! In such a touristy town itâs easy to find sub-par food, but thankfully this restaurant is an exception. (Assisi probably has the worst food Iâve ever had in Italy, so beware of which restaurants you choose!) the service was friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful homemade stuffed pasta and nice glass of red wine. Simple but delicious.
