Stopped In Monaghan to visit a friend and got a wee bite to eat here. I had the Renoir (Brie, ham and apricot relish/jam) baguette of some kind and it was tasty and filled me for a few hours later. Quirky wee cafe, would be better a bit bigger but it is adorable. Decor is lovely, clean and tidy place with lovely staff and will most definitely be back.

Outside catering by collection service available.
We nearly walked past The Hive because it looked like an, not out of the ordinary coffee shop, but I am so glad we went in. All food is fresh and home-cooked - even down to the salad dressings which were ideally proportionate to the ingredients so none of the flavours were overpowered. The folk serving were lovely, and rightly confident we would enjoy their food. Their home-made chips were delicious, crispy cases with fluffy centres, and the beetroot and chilli-bean burgers with salads, not buns, were warming and filling. We had a good big pot of tea alongside and were very content not to rush, just to enjoy. This little restaurant is one in a million with a conscience about good food not spoilt by commercial production. We intend to return when next in Monaghan. Thank you! Thankyou very much ProRathbone for taking the time & trouble to review your dining experience @ The Hive . We take great pride in all that we produce for our guests, and was delighted that you enjoyed . Feedback is vitally important to us all to ensure that we are constantly moving forward delivering new tastes and textures in all of our innovative creations of good clean healthy wholesome food . My staff and I look forward to welcoming you again in the future . Thanks again , Kerry .

Had Sunday lunch with 2 kids - busy spot but managed to get a table. Service was a tad slow but very friendly and attentive, so no complaints there. Very child friendly menu (unexpectedly) - comes with a very fancy activity booklet. Kids had pasta with delicious, homemade sauce with large portion on chips.,Adults went for the roast beef and lamb. While my lamb was absolutely delicious, the beef was one of the best we've had in the country - perfectly cooked, juicy and so tender. We were extremely, pleasantly surprised - I must say. Desserts - kids had apple jelly and 3 scoops of ice-cream. They would have preferred the jelly on it's own, it was that good. Adults had creme brulee and summer fruits crumble - both delicious. All in all, extremely pleased with the quality.

Visited here on recommendation from a friend. Special salad for me...halloumi, beetroot and chickpea... tasteless and boring. Husband had BLT....equally the same. Very busy with Saturday family crowds so definitely suits a lot but just not for me.

At Snaffles, our 2 AA Rosette award-winning restaurant, you can enjoy delicious meals in a relaxed setting. Situated on the first floor in the Lodge, Snaffles welcomes both residents and local guests. Snaffles is a beautiful open-plan restaurant and is li
The venue for this restaurant is lovely; rustic modern decor, cozy lighting and stylish fittings. The food (a £65 per head prix fixe) was tasty if a bit overly elaborate in parts (the scallops had all sorts of things going on that did not necessarily gel). Reasonably priced and thoughtful wine list. The dealbreaker was the service, which was a complete mess. Nobody seemed to be in charge, seemingly dozens of inexperienced waiting staff ran around completely ineffectively, and there was zero attention to detail. Not one member of our party had their wine glasses topped up during the entire dinner (mine stood empty for 20 minutes before I finally poured myself), the dishes were served to the wrong people and not all at the same time, the waiting staff were unclear about the menu and the contents of the dishes, and we had to wave our arms in the air more than once to get any assistance. For what is an expensive restaurant, it was a shambles. Hopefully they just had a bad night. Either way, we won't be returning.

Monaghan town's longest established family run restaurant (1983). Sean cooks the food, Aisling runs the restaurant (makes the most superb desserts) and downstairs Kevin is famous for his Gin collection! Renowned for our 30 day dry aged beef aged and butch
Andy's has won many awards and you can see why. It is a very busy spot and the friendliness meets you at the door. The food is first class.... Monaghan chicken....mmmm and the desserts...a little piece of heaven tucked away in the corner of Monaghan town.HiGenuine friendliness is something very important to us here in Andy's and the staff are hand picked to ensure that they do and want to look after you. Where would we be without Chicken Monaghan - created accidentally by my father all those years ago. The desserts are my sisters responsibility (Aisling) priced at â¬5.95 and homemade they really are the best value in town compared to paying around â¬8 for pretty much the same thing elsewhere. The dessert platter has been a revelation. We are pretty much the only place in town to offer it and it has been a huge hit since we launched it about a year ago. Many thanks for your review.Regards Kevin
