Bearna (anglicized as Barna) is a coastal village in Connemara, west of Galway city in County Galway, Ireland, on the R336 regional road. Once a satellite of Galway city, the village is now rapidly becoming one of its suburbs. Officially, the village is regarded as Irish speaking and is therefore a constituent part of the regions of Ireland that make up the Gaeltacht. However, because of its absorption into the city, it has recently become a mainly English speaking village. Nonetheless, Irish is still the main language of its western and northern hinterland and the village has now effectively become the gateway to the largest Irish speaking region in the country

This was my first visit to BoTown and I will be back. I had the Smokey burger option and it was very good, perfectly cooked. The chips were great also. The service was quick and friendly and as it was early evening we didn't have long to wait.Delighted you enjoyed your time with us Pete! I'm just gutted I wasn't there to greet you myself but hopefully I'll catch you again soon. Thanks a million for dropping in and for taking the time to post a review. If you enjoy high quality food in a traditional pub environment you will love John Keoghs Award-Winning Gastropub! All of our food is prepared daily with the emphasis on local and fresh. Reservations taken - call us to book. Walk-in tables are also availa
Our hotel recommended another place, but it had fewer choices and higher prices. Looked on TA and found this just a short walk away. The restaurant was not particularly busy when we arrived. The hostess seated us near a family of young children who were not being taught how to behave in a restaurant. Although we said nothing, the server could tell that the noise irritated us and asked us if we'd like to move to a quieter section of the restaurant, a most welcome suggestion. The food was excellent. We both ordered lamb, and it was perfectly prepared, appetizingly presented, and delicious. Seasoned just right, not over-spiced like too many restaurants tend to do to their food. Flavorful and tender, it was mouth-wateringly delicious. The server was helpful, friendly, and attentive without hovering. We felt neither ignored nor rushed during our meal. The table, chairs, dishes, glasses, and utensils were clean and in good condition. So glad we didn't take the hotel's suggestion to eat at another place, and discovered John Keogh's Gastropub instead!

We came across this pub by accident whilst looking for somewhere for an early evening meal. We're both vegetarians and sometimes struggle to find anything interesting but we had plenty of choice. When the food arrived it was tasty, well-presented and there was lots of it. The pub was busy, with customers of all ages, so it made for a great atmosphere. Sadly we couldn't try the beers because we were driving.

Good food, good selection on the menu, but it's pub grub.Pub is not the cleanest, sticky tables, tables are small and a lot stools not chairs.Disinterested waiting staff.Stairs everywhere, down to toilets and up to seating. If you want a quick meal with a pint, it's fine.

Three of us called in on a busy Wednesday evening. We had to wait about twenty minutes for a table - no problem. We were seated as promised and the menu was outlined to us most efficiently.Very good variety on the menu and we settled for Battered Fish and Chips, The Fish Special of the evening which was Hake and finally Killary Mussels. Glasses of wine for the ladies and water for the driver. The food was really good and served perfectly. Coffees followed and we were satisfied. The one disappointing feature was the cost of the glasses of wine at â¬8.60 a glass, which seemed excessive. Remarkable and very surprising given our previous experiences in this area.

Had a delicious meal here. Portions were great, good price value, fresh fresh food. Sauces not too heavy, recommend roast chicken if they have it or the darn of salmon. Wine list is reasonably priced. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed, we waited about 30 minutes for our check, but food was prompt.Warm and inviting decor, beautiful patio if weather permits.

Impromptu Midweek meal out, we were seated upstairs overlooking the bay. Glorious view!! Utterly delicious fresh prawns, hake and plaice with generous portion of homemade breads, chips, potatoes and vegetables on the side. Friendly subtle service throughout. Too full to do anything but look at the dessert menu. A great reason to come back again!

Award winning Upstairs at WEST restaurant is located in beautiful Barna,Galway on The Wild Atlantic Way in one of the most luxurious boutique hotels, The Twelve. West features innovative dishes that highlight the region and the season's best ingredients.
We had the tasting menu which was excellent however they appeared to be short staffed. Waiting staff were almost running between tables and different people brought different courses. Some were able to explain each course while others just dropped it and ran. Not great on pouring the drinks either. I got a large Perrier and it was just deposited on the table beside me unopened!

Season permitting we grow as much of our own produce as possible on our ever expanding farm located in Moycullen located on the proposed Galway-Clifden Greenway. At peak growing season our greens & eggs have a 'plot to plate' time of minutes. We love craf
Me and my friends were searching for a nice and quiet place where we could have a chat and a nice meal. We tried this restaurant and we liked it so much. The quality is brilliant and the prices are fair! I suggest you to order the mussels and claims, they were amazing. Plus, the staff and the atmosphere is super comfy and classy. Recommended.
