Hillarious, the nearest Papa johns to me is 3 hours by Boat, or 6 hours by Car. Here is one in downtown Athenry, the Ladies in here couldn't do enough for me. My Pizza was fantastic, with Irish Fries and a Pepsi. Terrific!

During a recent trip to the West of Ireland, I visited Gill's twice (19 and 21 August). The bar/restaurant is located in the centre of Athenry (Old Church St.), close to the railway station. The place is well furnished and has a genuine warmth to it that does not go unnoticed. Upon my first visit, I had lunch. To begin with, I had the soup of the day, served with a generous portion of brown bread and butter. I then had a warm goat's cheese salad which was very nice and tasty. Upon my second visit, I simply enjoyed a half-pint of Franciscan Well's Rebel Red. On both occasions, I throughly enjoyed the pub's warm atmosphere: in this respect, I should definitely like to mention Darren (hoping not to have got his name wrong) serving behind the counter. A very friendly and professional young man with a kind word for every customer. If I am back in Athenry, I will certainly pay another visit.

This used to be one of my most favourite places to eat in but since the change of ownership it is very disappointing. Last time we visited the food was obviously pre-cooked and re-heated. It was not as tasty and enjoyable as it was over the previous years that I had been going there. A place that used to be full of customers always had just the two of us on this occasion.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to the Nook in Athenry. As a coffee lover the dirty chai on offer was top notch and the ham and brie crepe also really enjoyable!! The place oozes character as locals by passed each other having a chat in the tiny space!! Really homely and a great atmosphere. Fresh baked raspberry and white chocolate muffins arrived while we sat there and this was the literal cake icing!!:) will defo lately return to this tiny but amazing coffee shop!!
