We arrived late into Split and the owner of our accommodation rang this restaurant and asked them if they could keep the kitchen open for us and they happily obliged. Even though it was late the restaurant was quite full with locals which is always a good indication that we have picked the right place. The service from our waiter was excellent and he recommended both the wine and the house special of black squid ink risotto. We decided to be adventurous and try the risotto and it was delicious. I would have liked to visit this restaurant again but we ran out of time. In my opinion it was far better than the some of the pretentious and overpriced restaurants in the city centre.

Our apartment in Split was only yards away and so it was inevitable that we would try this bistro. Our initial visit was for a late night plate of soup following our evening arrival, but first impressions were good and we returned for two evening meals during the course of our stay. The bistro is well established and has a good reputation. It specialises in Mexican food, but we stuck to the daily choices menu, enjoying dishes such as meatballs with mashed potatoes, local beef stew and seafood pasta - all very good.

Booked a table for our last evening in Split and we were not disappointed. Two members of our party are vegetarian and they had a number of dishes to choose from. We had struggled to find veggie friendly restaurants in Split, so this was accommodating for all. We had the cheese board to start and bread with hummus. The ingredients were fresh and the homemade pesto was very flavoursome. The main courses were thoroughly enjoyed all round with a delightful crisp wine to accompany. Reasonably priced, charming ambience and attentive service.

Feel-good hearty vegan street food in a small family owned diner right next to spectacular Peristil square.
I disagree with VeganHayleys review in September... Marta's Veggie Fusion is very allergy aware and anyone who has an allergy and does not tell the restauranteur before ordering is being irresponsible. Allergens like soya, mustard and gluten are written on the menus so easy to decide what to have, but staff are happy to advise on others. The place is great and Marta is very friendly and helpful. I explained what allergies I had and all the information was relayed back to the chefs and dishes I ordered checked as to suitability.I ordered falafel bowl with mix a la wok for my husband with a side of skin on fries to share. The food was faultless, very tasty, fresh and scrumptious and filling too. We ordered a tiramisu and lime cheesecake to take away as we were full after clearing our plates, packed separately as the cheesecake contained one of my allergens. The cakes eaten later sat on our balcony on our cruise ship with a cup of tea were fantastic.Marta's is a must visit place for all vegans and vegetarians in Split. Highly recommended.

An unusual establishment that serves fresh excellent quality grilled meats, tuna and burgers like a takeaway that you can eat outside.I had a tuna steak, hubby had children breast stuffed with ham and cheese. These were both exceeding excellent and far surpassed anything else we had eaten since being in Croatia.Highly recommended and probably going back tomorrow!

I did promise myself I would eat a traditional croation meal but this was too good to pass up. I had a delicious grilled salmon with celeriac and sweet potato mash and a salad. My friend had seafood risotto with sea urchin. She let me have a taste and it was out of this world. The portions were large and more than enough to fill us up. We then had an espresso which was also good. Do yourself a favour. Donât pass this one up if you get the opportunity

Trattoria Tavulin is small restaurant in Diocletian palace.
Great setting on a small square with comfortable outside seating.Very friendly staff and great service.Menu has something for everyone but not a huge selection which was helped us make our choices.Definitely worth the walk to get there and enjoy a pretty setting in the old town.

Nestled within the heart of the 4th Century Diocletian Palace is our newest location - Fig Split. Our focus was in creating a new and vibrant dining experience, but still in-keeping with our travel inspired food mantra - something a little different. And
