Unfortunatly I was disappointed by the menu and although the servers were lovely and friendly the main meal was quite basic. It was served with a bland sauce over a piece of grilled chicken on a bed of slightly undercooked potatoes. There were no vegetables at all offered No Sunday lunch was on either of the menus I saw.Nice decor just needs a better menu and a more appetising presentation of the dishes.

As Brunning and Price pubs were born in the area - weâve always enjoyed attending their pubs - but since Frankie and Bennys took over its all gone steadily down hill (hardly a surprise!). The Morris Dancer started well but itâs fallen foul to the pinching of margins from above with food standards being squeezed, short of staff and slow service. Sunday 28th Sept, booked in advance for a table of 7, asked if the Sunday roasts would still be available at 7pm, and was told, adamantly that they would..... as that was the main reason we were going we were hugely disappointed that theyâd sold out!!!! On top of that we had over an hour to wait for our food, which seems to be the norm with The Morris Dancer nowadays...it was less than 20% full so what was going on? Half the desserts were unavailable and all we got was an embarrassed waiter apologising and shovelling meal vouchers into our hands as we left. Waste of time as we wonât be going back!!! To top the night off - 5 out of my party had food poisoning - one of them on the way home. Avoid!!!!!!

We went to the Boot on an early evening - there were lots of people enjoying a beverage in a very pretty outdoor patio space. The inside of the Boot is eclectic and very old - in a good way - low ceiling beams, fireplace and nicely appointed tables. We shared the backed camembert and I had a penne dish that had a hint of heat with olive oil and tomatoes. The flavours were excellent, the wine list was not extensive but offered nice variety and good quality and the servers and staff were very friendly. It is a place that look forward to visiting on my next trip over the pond to the Cheater area next year.

Wasn't going to bother putting a review on,but just been to the Dressers Arms,Wheelton, near Chorley with some friends, and what a difference to the Red Lion where we went with some friends on Saturday, the food was absolutely excellent, great value for money,no added extras for sauces, pleasant and helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you!! We walked in the Red Lion, the barman/own was ok,no great welcome, shown the booked table and given menus at the bar,two of us ordered the steak and ale pie which was very nice, one had lasagne,we asked for chips instead of salad, but were charged £2.50 for the chips, the salad came too, would have thought chips were cheaper to do than a salad, this meal was ok,my husband ordered the large fish and chips, well it was very small and the batter not crispy,to which we all agreed, when the man brought the sauce we remarked on the size of it,he said he'd tell the kitchen, did think they may have come out to see or brought a replacement but no,completely ignored. When the plates were collected,my husband remarked again "that if that was the big one he wouldn't like to have seen the small one"Think it was the chef owner who took great umbrage, saying the fish was by weight and fresh from Fleetwood, and said my husband was very rude, well it was her who was extremely rude, what's happened to sorry if you weren't happy or the customer is always right,in hindsight we should have only paid for the small one which was £8.75,the large £11.75 I think, not exactly cheap, think this lady needs to go to charm school if she's dealing with the public, she certainly can't take constructive criticism. Our friends who live near there will certainly not go back and won't recommend it either. We did notice there weren't many in as we left, but a lot,of pubs in the area had lots of cars in their car parks, now we know whyI've read the reviews on this place and they're mostly good but unfortunately on this occasion we can't give a good review

Used to here many years ago for family celebrations, have been three times this year and on each visit found it to be just as good as before.Only drawback is, with age, not able to eat as much, so have to be a little more selective on what dishes to choose. Would highly recommend for those with a larger appetite or sharing, as portions are generous.

This is a lovely "independent" pub to visit for some excellent cuisine. Recently refurbished the dining rooms are spacious and comfortable. A real log fire sets the perfect tone. Dog friendly in one area is another plus. We tried the white bait that was one of the nicest I've experienced. Mains - shown in the images - were whole plaice and cod steak. Both meals were equally as tasty as each other. I would recommend the Fox and Barrel and look forward to visiting again soon. #tayloredbyus
