The Unicorn on the Beach is a new pub and restaurant overlooking the Porthtowan dunes and beach, set up by a team that lives for food, drink and hospitality. We offer a relaxed and beautiful space for drinks and snacks, breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner
The pub looks great and drinks were nice. We was deciding whether to have food or not but when the chef came out of the kitchen with dreadlocks uncovered it put us off completely. Very unhygienic :( Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. The gentleman in question is not one of our chefs but the KP (and so does no food handling) but I have passed on your comments to the team.I'd like to reassure you that the hygiene is taken exceptionally seriously at The Unicorn on the Beach and we are thrilled to have been awarded a rating of five by Cornwall Council (the highest you can receive) as testament to this.

First visit to the Smugglers Den Inn & we plumped for the roast beef after starters of deep fried Brie & soup of the day!The roast was plentiful, lots of beef served on a bed of cabbage, roast potatoes & a delicious puffy Yorkshire pud. Additional vegetables on the side, green beans, carrots & cauliflower were cooked well. There was too much gravy on the plate & it was a little thin. However, this is personal preference & if we visit again which I am certain we will then I would ask for the gravy to be in a jug on the side. The portions were large so we unfortunately couldnât fit in a dessert.Service was great & all the staff were welcoming & very helpful. Super dog friendly so our 7 month old puppy Elsa was able to join us which makes such a difference to our enjoyment.Look forward to returning in 2020

We moved to Cornwall in June but have only just found the time to pop to The Cornish Vegan for treats. Previous visits have been on holidays. Itâs also always been sunny weather before so it was a treat to stop by and get cosy in the beautifully decorated interior , rather than sun it up in the gorgeous outside section. We opted for soup of the day which was red lentil and chickpea. You get a huge bowl full with toasted seeds, plus three slices of bread and what tasted like in house churned butter. Really filling and tasty. We also had chips on the side to share which were chunky and delicious. We had to have dessert with my partner on walnut and chocolate brownie with ice cream and I had Cornish cream tea for two. I could only finish one of my soft delicious scones with strawberry jam and clotted coconut cream, I felt sooo sick but it was so worth it! Partner loved his dessert too. Will definitely be stopping by in future for more tasty food. A real favourite. Thank you so much for the lovely review. It makes us so happy when our customers enjoy their visits with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon (and more frequently too seeing as you've now moved to Cornwall). Thanks again,Dawn and Paul x
