The appetizer selection ($26) was just great as a meal for two of us, with enough room left over for dessert. Everything was fresh, tasty and cooked perfectly. I never thought I'd ever say that tater tots were great .... but these truffle-infused tots were spectacular. Service was prompt, knowledgeable and very pleasant and welcoming. Will be back....

Stopped in for a pre-theater upscale feed. We’ve been several times before and I have been slightly disappointed and unfortunately was again. The beet salad was very good as usual. I tried the BLT salad with fried green tomatoes and smoked bacon – it was good and had a nice creamy dressing. Vanilla Crème Brûlée is good. It’s served in a dish that is big enough to share. Served with two spoons. The disappointment came with the burger. It was cooked to medium-rare — they don’t ask how done you want it. It came topped with a dollop of grilled onions, bacon jam, lettuce and cucumbers; the cukes overpowered the burger flavor. It was served with fries that were cooked to the edge of overdone, okay, just beyond the edge into burned territory. The “house” ketchup tasted weird. It took forever to get the dish out of the kitchen to the table. Not what I expected from a $20 burger.Quick seating with reservation. Friendly efficient waiter (no so much kitchen staff). You can tell it's upscale because they have candles on tables and cloth napkins (but no table cloths). Loud. Lots of parking, but parking and seating can get crowded on theater nights. Reservations suggested. Quite pricey for smallish servings. My bottom line is I don’t plan a return visit. Many other places that don’t have something wrong every time.

I hadn't been in this Wegmans Marketplace cafe before, but it was well-stocked and carried the usual array of prepared food for a Wegmans. I got some bagels for breakfast, but also took out some Kung Pao Chicken with lo mein noodles. I would have rather it was a bit more spicy, but it still had Wegmans quality cooked in, which is a good thing. The entire restaurant (that part of the supermarket) was very clean and attractive. I liked the place, even though it is not "my Wegmans." I'd still give it high marks.

When is a grocery store a tourist destination? When it's Wegmans flagship store. I'ts sensory overload. The cafe has a dizzying variety of prepared meals. You could visit every day for a year and not eat the same thing twice. Gourmet, vegan, kosher, Asian, BBQ, Mexican, you name it, they have it. People from out of town seek it out and are overwhelmed, and envious. Lots of locals know and love it and the bustling about makes it the Grand Central Station of grocery stores. For a quieter spot to enjoy your meal, head upstairs. If I ever moved, I'd miss this place.

From the moment you walk through the doorway, you will know you are somewhere special....and, that you have a choice to make! Turn right and enjoy a well stocked and cool looking bar, peppered with friendly folks and the promise of great time! Or, head down the stairs in front of you to take a seat in a well appointed and comfortable dining space. The choice is yours, and there are no wrong decisions! We were here to dine, so down the stairs we went. Although intimate, the space is well utilized and feels comfortable. The menu is beyond exciting, with options for vegans, vegetarians, and those might enjoy an amazing steak too. Be prepared to share for two reasons: the portions are BIG, and you're going to want to try as many different items as you can! Don't be surprised if you're already bursting at the seems and the main courses have not yet arrived! Our server, David, was fantastic, and sensitive to our schedule and varied dietary requirements. To say our table was well stocked with food and beverage would be an understatement!Tapas 177 was a delight to visit, and we will surely be back.

Had dinner there with my wife, son and his fiance. Excellent food and service. I believe the prices are reasonable. There is not much of a "Pub" atmosphere but the bar area is very nice as is the atmosphere in the restaurant, which is very close to the bar. I concur with those who order the three course dinner. It is now $35 instead of $30, so I assume the increase was recent. Still a good value.

Good Luck

A bit hard to find with a sign the size of a postage stamp, but find it and you will be fed and served well. Shabby chic Brooklyn hipster decor in a large industrial space. The ubercool vibe welcomes you instantly. Service was extremely warm, with a team helping out. While all this is great, it is a restaurant and we are here for the food. And Good Luck does not rely on luck to win you over. Our table of 7 shared the red lentil and the chickpea appetizers. Thought the chickpeas with the curried sweet potato were great until we taste the lentils which were amazing. Entrees are sharing size and we had a burger, the fried chicken, tenderloin special and duck. All were great, but the group thought the duck was the best. We are only in Rochester 1-2 times a year and can't wait for our next visit.

Went to this restaurant while on a weekend visit to Rochester and had a fantastic evening. Started at the bar while waiting for our table. Partner sampled a couple of recommended by the friendly bartender and I had a great local beer. Nice brick walls that gave it a cozy relaxed homey feel. Small bar and dining room made it intimate as well. Moved onto the dinner was really excited by some great selections on the menu. Very friendly and knowledgeable server who was attentive but not overly so. Enjoyed a delicious smoked salmon appetizer and escargot in mushroom caps. Moved to the short ribs with gnocchi and horseradish sauce for me and the mixed grill for my companion. Both were excellent. Perfectly cooked entrees and savory sides. Great evening. Would highly recommend for date night, special occaissions, or just a great meal with friends.

The Owl House

Reviewed By Lori T

While visiting in Rochester, we dined out at a unique and quaint venue located in the heart of the city on Marshall Street where there is plenty of on-street parking. Literally a front-of-the-house step-up porch took us to the entryway where we encountered a greeter at a host stand. I also noticed the cozy bar on the first level to the right as the host took us upstairs – there was seating throughout the “house” - we passed a room with diners, and then we were taken to an adjoining room to our 4-top table (no linen or condiments, but tableware, napkins, and water glasses) with other diners nearby. I also noticed as I looked out the back second-story window an outdoor deck with several individuals who were dining on this beautiful evening. Our server was very friendly and efficient as he took our drink order - Carmine Sour Cappelletti, Franco-Italian Collins Cocchi Americano, and a Mikkeller Windy Hill and Decaffeinated Coffee Fabricator by Joe Bean @ $3 and our food order - Buffalo Cauli Wings @ $12 brought out while we were waiting for our entrees (they were delicious and accompanied by vegan bleu cheese and celery slaw), our Entrées were brought to the table once the Buffalo Cauli Wings were consumed to include: Grilled Eggplant with carrot puree, moroccan lentils, harissa aioli @ $19; Cripsy Tofu with rhubarb barbque sauce, sweet corn succotash, grilled fennel @ $19; and Grain Bowl of wild rice salad, grilled fennel, zucchini, asparagus and smoked tofu @ $14. The entrees all comfortably portion-sized meals were attractively displayed, and deliciously made with fresh ingredients. The restroom is on the second level, well-maintained but not accessible along with the rest of the property. Our server informed us that The Owl House was celebrating its 10th anniversary and it is understandable by the number of diners we saw that evening. In summary, The Owl House is an interesting venue, unique in its setting, unique in its simplicity, unique in its menu and drink selections. I would strongly recommend making reservations as there is limited seating along with a sizeable number of clients I noticed dining at The Owl House on this Saturday evening.
