On our last night in Orvieto we enjoyed a beautiful meal at this lovely restaurant, in the heart of Orvieto. Friendly and helpful staff, a complimentary Prosecco to start, as well as canapes, after discussion with staff we decided on wild boar stew for my man and for me Irish beef and rosemary, served with baked potatoes, an a beautiful bottle of red local wine. All beautiful!Good helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, thoroughly recommend this classy restaurant in downtown Orvieto.

At La Badia, hospitality at the table is an inalienable principle, guests can discover the genuine flavors of the Umbrian tradition but also the new temptations of a cuisine that knows how to combine tradition and new assonances. In the Orvieto area veget
La Badia is located in a stunning setting in a 12th century building, formerly a Benedictine monastery. We came here for a drink the first time, and then returned for dinner three days later. There is elegant cuisine available here, including four different degustation menus and a la carte. Our party of five had three of the degustation choices between us: the chef's selection, the seafood and the traditional. Each of them was lovely. A lot of thought and care has gone into the menu, particularly to showcase local seasonal Umbrian produce. There are also many good Umbrian wines on the wine list. We had several wines and they were reasonably priced. I had the chef's selection off the menu (cost 60 euros) from the menu and liked it very much. We thoroughly enjoyed the setting, food and wines. It was all in lovely harmony. This is anything but a cheap night out but there's a premium to be paid for the heightened quality of the experience, including the service which was very good. If you are after cheaper more rustic local food Orvieto proper is your locale. There are excellent options there for that type of experience. But, if you're after a more elegant and sophisticated experience, La Badia is a great option.
