After doing the Heidelberg Castle and Konigstuhl we were a little hungry and thirsty. Wandering away from the main Platz (and all the touristy stuff there) we found this place on the street near the river. The menu had a bunch of tapas, similar to what one might find in Spain. A glass of wine and some bier rounded out the offerings. The atmosphere was niceâ¦.somewhat spoiled by what I think were the owners children (or their friends children) that were making quite a ruckus in the restaurant and restroom. My parents would have tanned my hide if I behaved like that. Despite the noise we enjoyed our meal. Recommended.

We wanted somewhere 'ordinary' in the best sense, took a Number 5 tram from the centre and weren't the least disappointed. In fact, this was one of the nicest meals of our ten-day holiday. Succulent steak for me, tasty chicken noodles for my wife, with superb side-salads. German spirits to end with. All served by an enthusiastic and helpful waiter who seemed absolutely delighted to welcome two English visitors. We walked back to the centre along quiet streets.

Located right in the centre of the old town, this Greek restaurant offers typical food at large portions for a decent price. The service was friendly, very good and quick. This restaurant openned in May 2015, after some renovations in the building and the area. I love its location. It is surrounded by woods with a nice pond and a creek. I am sure dining in the restaurant will be nice in cold and rainy days. However, I love the Biergarten (outdoors). You can enjoy a cold bier, wine or a Radler with your light meal under the trees overlloking small pond. I like their Flammkuchen. My husband's choice is their Schnitzel. He says its the best schnitzel in town!

We went here for dinner and Adnan took care of us at the bar. His drinks were excellent along with his service and attentiveness to our wishes. The sushi was fantastic with a special twist to it. Of course, being rooftop the view was fantastic. If in Heidelberg, you should not miss this!

Just as Hirschhorn was kind of a surprise to us, this restaurant was unexpectedly good. The little town itself is a true gem along the river Neckar with a nice castle from where we've had a breathtaking view over the area.Das Kartoffelhaus, which means potato house, is on the centre of Hirschhorn, but a bit tucked away behind other restaurants. It looks typically German on the inside (clean, staccato, boring), but it has some nice tables on the sidewalk as well.We had the salad from the day menu, a potato(?) pizza and a spaghetti with prawns. The salad was fresh and tasty and without the usual mayonnaise-based dressing as so common the case in Germany. The pizza was on the hearty/heavy side, but good. Moreover, the spaghetti was quite delicious: copious amount of garlic and fine olive oil, mussels and king prawns. Not sure if an Italian would call this genuine spaghetti, but it was 'lecker' and that is all that counts. The service was OK as well as the bill. 45 Euro including two glasses of mineral water for lunch is not exactly a bargain, yet quite standard in this region.

The service was great: the staff are prompt, yet not intrusive and the ambiance special: old Fachwerkhaus, pleasantly decorated. The food was quite expensive and unfortunately not that great, mainly due to over-salting- can't say for all dishes, but the lamb and the Ochsenschwanz Essenz mit Sherry for sure. The scallops were slightly over-done, thus a bit tough, the same with the shrimp- Hummer Krabbe, if I remember correctly the German name. The salad was fresh and crisp, yet the yogurt sauce was nothing to write home about. The Filet Spitzen dish was good, but my husband had one piece of filet that tasted definitely off. The creme brulee was simply not creme brulee, but a custard that did not even vaguely remind of what is was supposed to be. All in all, disappointing, especially when we had such high expectations based on the reviews....I rated it average based on the great ambiance and service, that scored 5/5 for me, but the poor food brought the rating down to 3/5.
