The Aero Club of East Africa was founded in 1927 by the aviation pioneers who opened up the frontiers of Africa. It still retains that 1930s romantic charm and historical ambience. The club is the only restaurant at Wilson Airport, four km from Nairobiâs
Having regularly used the Aero Club and this restaurant when travelling through Nairobi, this last visit was a little less impressive than last time. Service was less professional and the food, while of good quality, was not well presented [or as ordered]. Maybe an inevitable occasional blip and we shall certainly try it again.

Sitting outside by the Fountain on a perfect Saturday afternoon, was a phenomenal way to experience Hemingways for the first time. The quaint tables, fringed by a lavender fence was the perfect setting for a crisp sauvignon blanc. While we had just come from lunch elsewhere, the menu did look interesting, especially the Josper fired grills.

We dined a few times during our stay at the Flame Tree restaurant attached to the Sarova Panafric Hotel mainly for convenience as we were located away from the city centre and unfamiliar with the area.We had 3 breakfasts, 2 dinners and 1 lunch there. There was a great selection of breads, pastries and hot food at breakfast but the other meals were average. My husband had short ribs for our first dinner which he said tasted like lamb shanks and I had the Chilli Garlic prawns which there were only 3 for a main course. Husband's Fish and chips for the second dinner which he said was ok but my so called Spanish Paella was more a Chinese Fried Rice with seafood and chorizo minus the egg, saffron, socarrat which is the key signature of a Paella and the other vegetables that comes with the dish. Mediterranean bisque at lunch had dehydrated seafood which was reconstituted when the seafood broth was poured over at the table and my wild mushroom tea tasted like seasoned dried mushroom powder mixed in hot water poured over a teabag at the table which came minus the cheddar sticks as stated on the menu. We both decided on the Lobster and Bacon in Baguette which was average. On the other note, the restaurant had excellent wait staff who were very attentive and friendly which made it a very pleasant dining experience. A very special mention to Monica who is a great asset to the restaurant.

What was once an excellent establishment, has completely become jeopardised,Brew bistro Westlands, (A corrupt free zone sign needs to be placed)It starts with security,It is a good thing for security to know one,But it comes with the unexpected,The second time you run into them,By this time one becomes a money token,Not only do they put force on it,Insist on it,But even while inside, one of them even came to me for his tip,The harassment didn't stop there, what I offered, which to be honest if I was completely sober I wouldn't have given into,This particular bouncer expected more,It didn't stop there,I went downstairs to pick up my friends,On my way up,I was once again targeted by a different security personnelWithin one night,I had at this time tipped two security personnelsThe dilemma didn't stop there,The brew staff as I now understand,Have their own way of marking someone,From a polite asking or rather referring to a different server when it's very busy,All boundaries are broken,It seems "you become friends"And so all together, I ended up tipping five staff members within a one night,Our specific, server, this one he wasn't even content in his tip,Not only did he get argumentative but demanded more and made sure he got more,Something is so terribly wrong somewhere,Words cannot even articulate the events of the corruption scenes, harassment of staff over tips, greed,The fact that one has to deal with broken staff boundaries,It really is so unfortunate given that there drinks and food are exceptional and the atmosphere according to me is accommodating,One thing for sure though,It is time to move on from Brew bistro

Quiet, quirky day-time cafe perfect for light, healthy lunches with great salads and fresh, exotic smoothies, juices and excellent coffee hand-roasted in Nairobi.
This Tin Roof Cafe is hidden in a treed location which makes it a great secluded getaway for a light and tasty lunch. The cafe has a quaint patio and the inside has a bright and fresh decor. The all you can eat salad bar is my favorite with a variety of options and flavours to suit any palate.
