The Cottage Inn is a family run public house on the fringe of Lynton and lynmouth , we stock a good range of well kept real ales, ciders, lagers , spirits and wines, We are now also selling our own Ale "FatBelly Ale" which is brewed right under your feet
We've eaten in at this restaurant several times and it's always been a really enjoyable experience; great food, stunning location and friendly staff. When we visit the area and think about the food we are going to have (always a high priority when planning) then my 'must have' is something from The Nartnapa Thai.We collected a take-away recently and as usual it was completely delicious.Prawn dippers are the food I would choose to eat every day if I could-if only Nartnapa sold online!....crispy outside and full of delicious meaty prawn. The spring rolls are loaded with fresh vegetables, and better that anything I can get locally. The only thing I can recreate at home is the nutty dipping sauce! :)My husband had the green Thai chicken curry and me the red. The veg was fresh, with soft chicken, there was chilli heat-but not so it overpowered the flavours and it was plentiful. We ordered extra egg fried rice, because again, from experience it is the best we have ever tasted, so we get loads. Consistent high quality, that's what I like; the food is consistently excellent and our favourite dishes never disappoint. When we've eaten in and when we've collected take-aways, the staff are fabulous(I manage teams and appreciate seeing a crew working well together).Gary is a visible and welcoming host and the bar staff are so knowledgeable about the beers and they are all friendly too. I enjoy looking at the vast array of gins and spirits, but, the beer is unique and part of the experience for us. Forgot to mention, we are both into our IPAs and enjoy locally brewed beer and lager. The beers are also something special-we walk across the Lynway from Lynton and stagger back!TIP: book if you are eating in and phone well in advance for a take-out as this is (understandably) a really popular restaurant and everything is cooked fresh to order.

We had done a whole day of touring with a 15 month old baby at Dunston Castle and the Valley of the Rocks. We were all tired and wanting something special and fast.Thankfully, the staff at Rising Sun Restaurant were quick to put us at the 'bar side' of the restaurant as apparently the table cloth section was fully booked. I prefered this knowing my messy baby. Baby chair was quickly brought and after orders taken, food arrived quick enough.Mussels were very nice, Lobster Bisque was quite light but still flavoursome, seafood platter was not bad as it had a variety (of which i thought my garlic chilli prawns were cooked to perfection) but the highlight was the Turbot. As I was not a local resident in UK, i am informed by family members residing in London that the price of Turbot was always much higher in the capital - i took her word for it.Overall, would we go to the Rising Sun again? Most definitely. We were really pleased you and your family enjoyed your recent meal with us,your lovely comments made about the food have been passed onto our Chefs, and were very much appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to the Rising Sun next time you are visiting this beautiful part of North Devon.

popped in here for a cream tea and felt like we had walked into a league of gentleman scene. the waiter was very very odd. the cream tea was ok. The cheese scone was microwaved and one of the two sweet scones was positively bitter in the after taste. and then we were overcharged but really by that time we were happy to get out of there. came away rather perplexed but the whole experience. kind of worth £12 just for the weirdness possibly!?
