We were exhausted from a full day of driving in the pouring rain and we did not want to go out again. View from restaurant was beautiful. However, the cheapest item on the menu was a burger and fries for 3000 ISK/ approx $24 USD. Yikes!

We were driving back to Vik late and happened across this little hotel/restaurant on the side of the road when everything else was closed. The menu looked reasonably priced and just what we wanted at the time, which was just simple burgers, lamb, etc. Turned out they were actually closed, but the lovely owner could tell we were starving and so offered to heat us up food anyway. It was just whatever lamb/potatoes that she had left from the day and it was quite tasty! Really delicious, even reheated. On top of that, they wouldn't let us pay because they hadn't given us "real" food, but just leftovers. Unbelievably nice, only wish we could have gone back there for a proper meal another time.

The restaurant have a very nice view and not that much competition out in the lava fields but I'd say we were quite disapointed with the food. We had stayed at the Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon the night before and though the prices there was a 1000 ISK higher it's the best lamb and pork we've ever had! But here at Fosshotel Nupar the food was bland, the breakfast as well. I'd still recommend the place but if you can stop and eat elsewhere that could be more worth while.

We were here with a tour group (off season) and noticed a shortage of staff throughout the hotel.Our meals were provided through the restaurant as part of our tour and we had some very good breakfasts and dinners. Breakfasts were served buffet style with a wide range of cereals, fruits, eggs, meats, deli meats, breads, pastries, etc. Everything was very good.Dinners with our group were usually catered as three-course meals and they were very good. We enjoyed some delicious salads, soups, and meat dishes. The fresh fish was quite tasty. Our main problem was having one server for a group of forty people - all needing drinks, refills, butter, rolls, coffee, etc. and not enough manpower to handle a room with that many people alone. We enjoyed a pleasant dinner at this cafe, which features Icelandic specialities plus other international dishes (pizzas, burgers, etc). It was quite busy during our visit (mostly tourists ate here), and the helpful staff were friendly and patient while serving the customers. If youâre seeking a nice meal and good ambiance in this small village, try this restaurant... enjoy!
