If you've ever eaten at a Golden Corral in the American midwest, then you will have an idea of the ambiance of Steak Gusto, a popular family restaurant concept in the Skylark portfolio. The menu is similar to what is available at the regular Gusto restaurants but, as the name implies, Steak Gusto focuses on meat -- steaks, hamburger and pork. All you can eat (Viking) salad bar is included, meat is served hot on a teppan grill plate and while prices are a little more expensive than a regular Gusto, you can find a meal at a reasonable price and with the salad, dessert, and bread, it will fill you up. This one seemed to be especially busy on the Friday evening we visited, but the line at the salad bar moved quickly. Drink bar is also available for an extra charge.If you are hungry and are craving meat and don't mind sharing the restaurant with many families with young kids, then this might be a good choice.
2. Denny's Hachioji Asahicho

We visited Denny's for breakfast and it was quite good while catering both Western and Japanese choices. The menu was relatively affordable too (~500yen), and the window seats allowed us to glance out at the morning street traffic below. We definitely enjoyed our first meal at Denny's in Hachioji.
