Damme (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdɑmə]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders, six kilometres northeast of Brugge (Bruges). The municipality comprises the city of Damme proper and the villages of Hoeke, Lapscheure, Moerkerke, Oostkerke, Sijsele, Vivenkapelle (nl), and Sint-Rita (nl). On 1 January 2006, the municipality had a population of 10,899. The total area is 89.52 km², giving a population density of 122 inhabitants per km².

This as an absolutely amazing restaurant, not just the food, but the service. The shareable menu has a variety of options, each created by the owners with attention to detail. Everything is fresh, homemade, and will leave you completely satisfied. My only regret is that I could not eat more. Highest recommendation!! You will want to come back.

Weâve had a great meal here and a relaxing evening. Service was good too. Got offered a little soup as a pre starter. Good choice of food on the menu. Hot, cold starters. Kangaroo was on the menu for mains. I tried it and it was amazing. Good flavour and so soft.

I ordered the house signature dish, a giant brochette "Swaenenhoeck" for ⬠29,5.Considering the price, I expected a brochette consisting of only a prime cut of meat.It turned out a large part of the brochette consisted of cut-up and rather dry sausage. This makes it way too overpriced. If you order 2 local beers like Viven to go with it, you're looking at a bill of nearly ⬠40 for a brochette, an ordinary salad, french fries and bearnaise sauce. This is way too overpriced considering the quality and cooking was only average. It's a cozy place to visit and service is quite friendly but at these prices, I can only recommend this place for a drink but not for a meal.

We attended here this evening and had a wonderful meal. The salmon and duck were both excellent dishes. Hans provided us with terrific service and was very friendly. This is a wonderful place to have dinner. Thanks to Hans and his wife and excellent chef. Happy Canadians

Husband and I just had breakfast here today! Was absolutely delicious (we had the triple madam) and the service was excellent. Really nice vibe to the place and superb fresh food! There was queue but it went quickly and we were in and seated in 10mins! Definitely worth the wait! Highly recommend!

The Je restaurant is a newly opened place with a gorgeous menu offer. The quality is way beyond the price level. We told the restaurant owner that he should rise the prices to attract a quality conscious clientele...Thank you for your nice review. That was a pleasure to receive you.My price/quality ratio seems to be miraculous for a lot a people, specially from Brugge. They are just "french prices" . I do not know what's the secret :-)

As a family of 4 adults we ate in this cosy little family owned/run restaurant. The menu and wine list offer plenty of choice. I had the swordfish steak which was cooked to perfection and completely delicious, makes my mouth water thinking about it! The restaurateurs were friendly and attentive, they gave us free desserts - a tiramisu and a creme caramel, which were scrumptious! The decor is interesting and the restaurant comfortable. The restaurant is immaculatey clean and wonderfully small and intimate: with just 8 tables. The welcome is warm and friendly without being over-bearing or intrusive.The menu of South African dishes is varied and excellent with a great wine list and wide selection of beers.The food was cooked to absolute perfection and as previously mentioned, the service is not rushed or "pushy".Two warnings: This is not "fast food" - it is cooked to order and with fresh ingredients. It takes a little time; perfect for conversation and a couple of drinks!They do not take credit cards - you have to pay by cash. We were pre-warned, but one couple in the restaurant had to do a quick run to the cash machine around the corner.This is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food and fantastic service.

Two of us rode by bike from Brugge in temperatures of 35C and we met four family members for lunch. We were recommended this place by a chocolate shop keeper in Brugge. Great recommendation! Pretty village, nice restaurant and a lovely lunch for the six of us and ALL of the meals were excellent. In hot weather go to the far end of the garden to the picnic tables. Nice and cool.
