Looking at both their online menu and the fact that this is TA's #1 for "fine dining", we expected to have something rally fancy. The clues should have been there when we arrived at 8pm - the only people in the restaurant.Lovely modern decor, but a very dated menu - things like duck à l'orange, chicken marsala and beef wellington. Prices are also relatively high by Malta standards. We opted for just a main course. My wife had the beef wellington: nicely cooked except that the pastry on the bottom was raw. The waitress said this was because the beef was medium-rare, but my wife is a brilliant home cook and said that the trick is to cook on a rack so the heat gets to it - sear the meat all round, higher heat for 25 minutes etc etc. I had the beef fillet, which was nicely cooked. The asparagus that came with both meals was way over-cooked, stringy and limp.Considering that we were on our own for an hour, service was quite poor. They did bring us two lots of free drinks at the end, which was nice. I wouldn't go back there again.â¬99 - definitely not worth the money!Dear David,Thank you so much for taking the time to review us and note that we are number 1 on TripAdvisor for fine dining, something we worked very hard to achieve. We are so fortunate that over 92% of our guests ranked us as either excellent or very good with the majority being 5 star.So we are very disappointed that you did not have the same experience and I did send you a private message to discuss your evening at 59.We appreciate your kind comments on our lovely decor and that we gave you two rounds of complimentary drinks. Regarding our "dated" menu these are classics and sit next to many contemporary dishes. However the menu is on the website, social media and at the front door and you stated that you did see the menu before dining with us so I am not sure why the comments calling it dated. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss further and ask you to get back to me on the message that I sent.We would love to welcome you back to 59 and show you what the majority of people experience.

Modern, upscale Indian dining experience
Being vegetarian it is always difficult when nigh on all food outlets purveys meat and fish produce, and Valletta stands out in this alienation of vegetarianism. However, by chance or good fortune, I say good fortune, we found the unique and god-sent Naan Bar in Valletta centre. Located away from the hustle and bustle of well trodden tracks, this restaurant is sublime and is a must for weary veggies looking for decent food. The food is of a standard you could expect or experience in a 5-star hotel, and we loved it. The staff were articulate and professional that added to this wonder food experience. In addition, the prices were better than the rest of Valletta's so called fine diners. Top Mark's for the Naan Bar. Just loved it@Dear Robert, We are happy that you found us and thrilled that we were able to satisfy your quest to find vegetarian fare in Valletta. Indian food thankfully offers a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options and we hope to keep adding more dishes each season. Thank you for your kind words regarding the service - we aim to be engaging and informative. Looking forward to welcoming you again! Warm Regards, Team Naan Bar

Located on one of the most Instagram-able stepped streets of Valletta. Chef Rafael Iori and our South American team will delight with a cuisine with a South American flair.
Eating on steps leading down to Valletta Harbour and having excellent Mexican influenced food seemed a lovely way to enjoy a Maltese Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed! All the staff were very welcoming and both helpful and knowledgeable with their advice regarding their Mexican styled dishes. Our table was in the shade and on a flight of steps leading down to the harbour. We had excellent starters of giant prawns with avocado and rabbit salad. This was followed by a very good Picanha beef for me and a beautifully cooked octopus dish for my wife. Together a reasonable bottle of local Chenin Blanc wine our bill came to â¬92.

Named to honour the San Giovanni (V) that was commissioned by the Knights over 200 years ago, our restaurant holds a series of analogies with the 64-Gun ship. On board, our talented international crew is versatile and able to welcome the discerning guest.
We went for our anniversary dinner and were extremely impressed with the service. Our server was Sunny and he was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. The highlight for us was the pistachio creme brûlée! The main courses were also fantastic we shared a pasta and rib-eye.
