We stopped in for dinner, very excited for some Indian food & left after one round of drinks & appetizers. The rum punches were very weak, the samosas were completely flavorless and the papadums tasted like old burnt oil. There were none of the standard Indian condiments, just a thin tamarind sauce. Needless to say we did not stay for dinner.

Stiil Fair. After Dinner we took the the program on making Chocolate. $15USD. This was presented by a local Chocolate maker who did an excellent job of showing us how chocolate was made and we even got to do it our selves. The result was a rich chocolate drink the Mayans have enjoyed for thousands of years. This was a priceless insight to the process of chocolate making. We are very happy that our kitchen team was able to exceed your expectations. We are considered moderately priced as a resort. As a resort, we know we have an extra responsibility to assure food safety and something above just a tasty meal. The focus on farm-to-table, the organic gardens, advanced food safety training for our food and beverage manager, and even the garden tours all add up to a lot of value for a little more than what you can pay in a regular restaurant in town. Our guests often tell us that this is why they chose to stay at the Maya Mountain Lodge.

The restaurant has a park in the backyard and two floors of indoor outdoor seating with soft lights. Nice ambiance for dinner. They had a two for one special for some of the rum cocktails, and each drink is topped with a beautiful intricate design. Food is good- had Thai shrimp summer rolls, pasta alla bolognese, and an arugula pizza. Bill came to around $40 USD. Would come back again.

I will consider one of those lifetime memorable meals that come along about two every decade. Firstly, the restaurant is charming, and the menu offers a broad selection that will appeal to every taste. I had the pork chop with chimichurri, delicate vegetables, and coconut rice. Served with a carménère, it was a wonderful combo of flavors and textures. The Bailey's cheesecake was beautiful and not too sweet. Family that runs the place does a fantastic job, and their young son is a remarkably knowledgeable dinosaur enthusiast.
