The city, with its steep hills dropping down to the sea, is popular amongst South Americans. The main ocean boulevard is called Avenida Atlântica (Atlantic Avenue). Balneário Camboriú is famous for the cable car which (uniquely in the world) links the city's central beach and the beach of Laranjeiras. The city is located 10 km (6.2 mi) south of the city of Itajaí, 96 km (60 mi) south of the city of Joinville, and 80 km (50 mi) north of the state capital, Florianópolis. The city has a population of 124,557 (2014 census office estimate), which swells to over one million in the summer.

Went out with some friends for dinner on a saturday. Long wait for a table so we took the balcony by the Chef. Best decision ever made, as our sushi came quick, and had the best "chef picks", by one of the best chefs in the house, Charles! Great place fir couples as well. Very trendy, so you will often find bloggers, and some of the most beautiful girls in Brazil, apart from celebrities as well. Order the seared truffled tuna, and the tuna foie gras to seal the deal!

Nice and cozy place with friendly staff and great service. Food is also good but the clÃmax here is the amazing view you get for your breakfast. What a view! Make sure to go out at the balcony to check all the sides.

If you are looking for some extra good braziian (or other) beer, if you are looking for some up scale people watching, beach watching, and some great music, this is the place, right in the centre of Av Atlantico. Great service, the food is OK (not great, best if you are not that hungry). They play samba music on the beach in front and have live bands in the week ends. Of course this place has Av Atlantico prices.

Made especially for me at the time I requested, excellent vegetable risotto. Good presentation and very friendly, accommodating waitress. The inside/outside dining is exactly my kind of understated luxury with huge sofas and cushions, an outside chandelier over limed wooden assorted tables. Views over the valley or the beautiful planted palms next to the pool.

We were looking for a Japanese restaurant during our vacation and we found Mity via TripAdvisor; at the time of this writing it is the #1 restaurant in the area and for a good reason. The place is very cozy and the chef and staff very friendly (it is a family-run operation). High points for the quality of the fish and rice used in their dishes.While speaking with the host/waitress she mentioned that Mity caters for the locals in Camboriú and Itapema but not many tourists knows it; the sitting area is somewhat limited but with plenty street parking - lots of people were ordering via phone or SMS so this could be a good option if you do not feel like going out or have a special bottle of sake already in the refrigerator.Excellent food, quality and friendly service and good price (compared with the outrageous prices of São Paulo) - what's not to like?Hello! The pluses first: the personnel is welcoming and really friendly and the venue comfortable. The menu had many different seafood options, which unfortunately I could not choose from because it was written in Portuguese, with no English translation. The waiter was really kind, smiling and willing to help. As I understood, there is no rotation in the menu, which make me fear that the seafood being offered, and not displayed, is not necessarily âcatch of the dayâ. In any event, I finally settled for grilled octopus, which stands freezing better than most other seafood. I am not familiar with the local taste, but the octopus, while certainly tasty, was way overdone: drowned in oil, you could hardly tell the flavour of the sea from the many ingredients it was grilled with. I was a bit disappointed by the bill: 238 reais for the octopus (certainly, not the most expensive seafood), one mixed salad, one beer, and one generous shot of excellent cachaça. This seems in contrast with the frugality of the meal, the value of the ingredients, and the reports of TripAdvisor, which ranks this restaurant as medium-priced (the reported price range is actually low: 21-50 reais). The quality of the meal, while more than acceptable, also contrasts with most reviews. The octopus serving was actually oversized and presented with three different kinds of rice, but having to leave some of it in the dish actually added some regrets, more than solace, to the experience.
