The last day we visited Padang we tried soto padang. We tried this restaurant as recommendation one blog. Unfortunately my experienced not very good. For the the taste is very basic, at Jakarta we can find better taste. The shocked for me is the price, they have 2 rooms, with air conditioning and not, since the weather is very hot we choose the AC room. They put menu on table and the price was different when i paid. The room with AC is more expensive 3000IDR for all foods and drinks.CRAZY!!! They even not informed us about this. This is first time I found restaurant with silly regulation like this.

Delicious martabak telor (pan-fried egg pancake stuffed with minced meat and vegetables). Need to increase the choices of drinks, though.

The (carp) fish head is as delicious as previous reviewers raved about. They didn't spare the spices in cooking this specialized dish! The fried chicken (free range chicken) was also very yummy. The emping (mlinjo) crackers were good, large & crunchy. All in all, you won't be dissapointed with this restaurant. Note that they have a branch near Bukittinggi, Jakarta & Pekanbaru. The owner told me that they flew the fishes from Padang to Jakarta to ensure the fishes' freshness.... Enjpy it if you're visiting Padang.

A charming cafe in the heart of Padang's Chinatown, serving an assortment of international favourites in a restored heritage building.
Well there is not much a vegetarian/pescetarian can expect to get in the way of decent food in a place like Padang, but the Weekend Cafe provided us with just that venue as after our terrible experience at Macaronis Resort we were craving something healthy and nutritious. The weekend bowl with Salmon was very tasty and had great flavours but was a little on the small side for the price so we ended up ordering squid as well and a carrot cake for dessert.Really nice and tasty food and very clean venue with a Canadian Indonesian owner on site who speaks English

Lamun Ombak restaurant is a legendary restaurant servicing of west Sumatra food in City of Padang. Padang food or West Sumatra food is rich with local high quality spices such as beef brain curry, fish, Balado Shrimp, Beef Rendang and many more. You could have other food menu such as vegetable gado-gado or fried chicken. The restaurant could fit big groups, clean and good service. I'm always amazed with they way the waiter brings the food, with sooo many small plates in his two-hands.The food taste has a very high quality spices and it is spicy! You could choose the food that been provided on the tables, and it will be charged only the food that you eat. If you want to have a plate portion, you could go to the front place and choose the menu.Over all, this is a good restaurant and tasty. Selamat Makan!
