Punjab Cafe is unassuming from the outside, a step inside, calm and inviting, and most of all - transporting. Soothing tabla and sitar music, welcome you as waitstaff deliver authentic North Indian dishes and intriguing relishes in a variety of platters,
Me, my wife and daughter made a 20 minute drive just to go and eat at this place. The reception we got from the staff was very cold when we entered. Rather than welcoming us, they said, the buffet is closing in 20 minutes. I enquired that while I understand that they would not bring any fresh items to the buffet, would they at least leave on the chafing dishes what was currently there so that we could eat. I pointed out that it would not be reasonable to expect us to sit down, serve ourselves and finish eating -- all in 20 minutes. They refused. So we left.

Ended up there by pure happenstance. I was pleasantly surprised: the gentleman who runs the place is a very kind, pleasant person. Not a 'flashy' place (not that I cared) and yet clean, quiet. They do a lunch buffet, takeaway, but obviously dinner too. The food is delicious, the menu (but this is typical of Indian restaurants) is relatively reach with options. I must confess I am not an authority in matters related to India (never visited that country), but the quality of the food reminded me of the best experiences I had at Indian restaurants in the UK and Asia. Well, one thing is sure: I'll become a regular client!
