The north Indian city of Varanasi, or Benares, is regarded as sacred by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. Situated in the fertile Ganga valley and on the banks of the Ganges, Varanasi is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus, who come to bathe in the holy river. Known as the City of Temples and a beacon of culture, Varanasi has produced many renowned writers. It’s also a center of silk weaving, so practice haggling at the chaotic bazaar for some beautiful souvenirs. Rickshaws are the best way to get about.

Wow. The food here is great and cheap (especially the Indian food), the manager (mahendra) is such a friendly guy, and it's a great place to get out of the heat and relax. Cushion seating at floor level, but they have tables as well.

I read a lot of reviews of this place on Trip Advisor. After reaching Varanasi, the manager at Hostel too recommended this place. We had ordered the Special Thali. Trust me it was simply amazing and too good. It had 3 subzis, Dal, Rice, 4 Rotis and yummy Gulab Jamun. This is one of the best cafés in Varanasi. Although a small place but lovely atmosphere.

I went with 8 friends and had breakfast two times, it was delicious, good service, nice ambience, cleanliness, friendly staff and nice story. The owners are a couple from India and France, 5% of the profit goes to a children school. It takes some time because everything is freshly made, but they also have table's games and interesting book, nice view of Ganga and good ambience to have a nice time with friends.

Within half an hour of arriving in Varanasi, we were recommended to try this restaurant. We were welcomed in by very friendly and courtesy staff,in an equally comfortable setting. Now the food.....we started with the best poppadoms ever, seriously! These were fried to crispy deliciousness. The mixed veg kebab platter was stunning...as were the sauces. Our 3 all time favourite flavours are coconut, peanut and chilli, this came in the form of a beautiful aubergine curry. So much delicious sauce was mopped up with Kashmiri naan breads. We were so full but still managed to fit in the moorish Gulab Jamun with ice cream. The food was amazing, the staff so welcoming, and the setting was very comfortable. Do yourself a favour and eat here, you will not be disappointed!!Dear Sir,Greetings of the day!!!We would like to thank you for your review. We are appreciative that you have liked our food, staff & Canton Royal Restaurant. We are also happy that we have been able to live up to our standards & your expectation. Looking forward to seeing again in our hotel. Regards,Ajay MishraOperations Manager
