Salt Rock is a small town just north of Ballito and Shaka's Rock on the Dolphin Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is a favorite holiday destination for many local South Africans. It is about 40 minutes north of Durban. There are plenty of fishing spots along the coast from Salt Rock, through Shaka's Rock to Ballito and Salmon Bay. Salt Rock owes much of its history to Basil Hulett and his wife Gwen who started not only the Salt Rock Hotel but went on to develop the town of Salt Rock as found today. Nightlife in the small town is limited with a handful of pubs and restaurants offering a variety of food and drinks. A new development, Sheffield Manor, is situated in Salt Rock as well as the newly built Tiffany's Shopping Mall.

Top 10 Italian food in Salt Rock, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
This small, Durban Curry fast food restaurant has amazing authentic Durban Curry. It's a great value for money restuarant for a quick grab-and-go / Take away, yet the availability of their menu items are usually "out of stock/sold out" which is a quite a let down;who knows...it might be due to their great tasting food.
a quaint little shop that specialises in authentic curries.Famous for its bunny chows.
Excellent hostess - The food is the bomb - genuine indian (south-african style) food. Bunny chow specialist but the other items on the menu needs to be tried as well- samosa's - roti' wraps etc. The venue is very tastefully decorated with an upstairs seating area that is more private - restaurant type feel. The more attractive part is they do telephonic orders, so on the way home you can pick up supper. i was certainly not disappointed and visiting this almost commercial part of the town I was apprehensive but being adventurous was willing to give it a try. Certainly sad I did not find this place sooner because Ballito itself is a place where is it hard to find good vegetarian food or even indian food for that matter. Be mindful place is marketed as a take-away and closes around 5pm mon-fri and 3-4pm saturdays.

Saw a review about their bunny in the local paper and decided to give it a go over lunch during the week. It was awesome to find that the review I read was true. They serve one of the best bunnies around! It is served in a neat folded take-away container. I went back for another 3 weeks later, unfortunately there was quite a steep price increase, however this may be related to the meat prices due to drought. I will still recommend this bunny to anyone - try it!
