Delicious Indian street food!
I have just eaten at this restaurant which was near to my hotel. The Tripadvisor reviews were good so I had high expectations but have rarely been so disappointed by a restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and the portions were so tiny I checked with a waiter that I had been served a main course. My curry came in a small bowl, about 10cm across, and contained 7 very small pieces of chicken; when you get so few it is easy to count them. It wasnât terribly expensive but at £9.50 (without bread or rice), dreadful value. The restaurant is next door to a Sainsburyâs local which is lucky as I was still hungry and was able to call in for a sandwich. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was busy. It has some good reviews but for me it was overpriced and not especially good. If this is one of the better Indians in Manchester I am genuinely sorry for the locals.

Opposite the Theatre Royal on Peter Street, Ashaâs Manchester occupies one of the cityâs finest Victorian palazzo buildings. Inside, elegant interiors and lavish comfort befitting an Indian palace await â a setting worthy of Michelin-listed Indian cuisine
I ate here with a colleague. It was a good environment for a business meal with an authentic menu and an extensive wine list. The food itself was good quality. My only issue with the meal was that my colleague ordered the monkfish for starter and I ordered the monkfish for my main meal and it was exactly the same portion size which seemed a bit stingy. Our waitress was excellent with very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable service. Dear The_Wylie_Coyote, Thanks for your review / feedback.I have already conveyed your comments regarding the monkfish portion to our Operations Team.Delivering authentic Indian food with great service has always been our primary goal. We look forward to welcoming you again. Team Ashaâs

First time I've been here after being told many times its a great place for authentic, super tasty, great value food, and after trying it today, I have to say I wish I'd found the ace earlier. I had a fantastic 'Rice and three curries' dish, that tasted fabulous, and cost less than a pint would in some parts of Manchester. If you haven't been yet, don't wait as long as I did to go!

Spur-if-the moment choice during a short stay in Manchester. Food was very tasty, ambiance and service excellent. Portions slightly larger than expected (not a complaint!) so unfortunately we had to leave some. Small detail -drop the ârate us on our tabletâ thing at the end - itâs a teeny bit annoying That said, wouldnât hesitate to recommend this restaurants

Good authentic indian food but bit pricey and they charged us service charge as mandatory thing. Never seen restaurants forcing service charge on its customers.Another shady thing is - they give you paper bill manually written on a piece of paper. When I challenged it, they got the printed one with VAT number on it.Go there for good food but dont expect class service !

Dishoom pays loving homage to the Irani cafés that were once part of the fabric of life in Bombay. Opened early last century by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran, there were almost 400 of these cafés at their peak in the 1960s. Today, fewer than 30 remain.
Visited Manchester for my partners birthday and ended the day here - Honestly the best Indian food Iâve ever tasted, everything we ordered was absolutely delectable. They offer great vegan options too (we ordered 4 vegan dishes to share from a separate vegan menu without hassle). The waiting staff were amazing; very friendly and able to offer advice on the food as well as the vegan menu. Also received 2 free desserts seeing as it was my partners birthday without even asking - Extremely kind of them! Extremely well priced too; didnât spend more than £35 for 4 vegan dishes, a pot of green tea and a standard soft drink. Absolutely recommend Dishoom Manchester to anyone who hasnât been before. The only real downside (and this is a stretch) was that the card reader we used to pay didnât have a top option, as we very much wanted to leave a tip, but donât carry change.
