Heaven forbid on any occasion they dont have the time to take your order at the time youre working out what you want. They disappeared for 10 minutes and I got fed up on waiting for them to come back. It was a simple "give me a sec" to which was replied "ok be right back", which never happened. Will make me think twice about going. I have been in the past and had perfect service, and lovely food, but that was because I knew what I wanted I think.

I will start off with some positives. La Pondicherry looks like a nice place, the welcoming staff are really friendly too. The menu takes some getting your head around, thereâs far too many dishes to choose from. For the ease of it I chose a familiar, tried a tested âmeatâ Rogan Josh, with Keema Naan and rice, oh and a popadoms and pickles tray to start. The starter was nice, although the pickles were sparse, and the Cobra Lager on tap was really good too. The main dishes arrive and I hurriedly went about distrusting in onto my plate. A couple of mouthfuls in and I still couldnât find what I was searching for........ flavour. This Rogan Josh was flavourless, but what it lacking in flavour, it made up for in tomatoes, they were everywhere. The rice was nice and the naan was really good, but the Rogan Josh was just lamb and tomatoes, so devoid of any distinguishing flavour was it that I couldâve ate it with pasta, or any other accompaniment and been disappointed by the dishes of the world. Dear Random1977Thank you for getting in touch. It saddens us to know how disappointed you have left with your experience and I am as appalled to read your comments and the points you have mentioned. Could you please contact me directly on [email protected] I would like to hear more about your evening and hopefully have the chance to make it right.I hope to hear from you very soon.Sincerely,La PondicherryGuest Relations Manager

We ordered a Balti, Korma, rice, chips and garlic cheese naan. The balti was ok. The korma was absolutely vile! It looked like mouldy chicken in cheese sauce and didnât taste great either! The chips were not chips but soggy fries and the naan only saw the garlic I think because it sure didnât taste like it.Overall I wouldnât have food from here again. Eurgh.

Really good food. Decent service in terms of speed but could have been a bit friendlier / welcoming. Large portions so made the mistake of ordering too much. Would recommend.

Akbar's never disappoints, it isn't the cheapest but then I don't think it should be. The service was warm and friendly and the food was cooked to perfection. Portion sizes are good and the man breads are huge! If you haven't been before look around to see what they are like before ordering too many lol. Book or you may have a wait

We visited last Friday evening, I rang to make a reservation but it wasn't necessary. Lovely friendly welcome, asked if I was the lady who had phoned, allowed us to chose our own table, no other diners as the early diners had already left and it was now almost 10pmService was second to none, all courses cooked to order, fresh, piping hot & delicious to taste.Yes, it's a little on the expensive side but in our opinion well worth it.We intend to try the Sunday Buffett next and have no hesitation that it will be just as enjoyable.Thank you for a lovely evening Trish & Lesotto.Love indian ? You should come along for a taste of the different Southern Indian cuisine. Highly recommended.
