This is such an intimate little place. Once you walk through the sliding door, you feel like you're in someone's kitchen. From a tiny menu book, you select the curry of your choice and settle in. My big bowl of vegetables was perfect and I felt like I was hanging out with family. Wish I stayed in Okayama long enough to go back!

Mirenga is a Halal certified Indian homemade restaurant near Okayama station. Opened in 2015 on September 25, we offers lunch and lunch and snacks. Closed on the first Tuesday.
In Okayama there are several very good Indian restaurants which have northern Indian cuisine but this is the only one I know of that serves southern Indian cuisine. Vegetarian and meat options available and the restaurant has halal certification.Very reasonably priced. Vegetarian thali was only 750 yen and the chicken thali was 880 yen. For only a couple of hundred yen extra you can also get dosa which comes in several flavours. Great flavours and fragrances and you get a nice cup of chai included in the price at the end of your meal. Very authentic thali right down to the metal plates. Just one thing that was a little disappointing was not being able to request the spice level. I like it very hot so it would be nice if they could add extra chili on request.Anyway, great little place that's only a short walk from Okayama station in a nice quiet setting. Well worth a try!
Went there for lunch and was pleasantly surprised, being a vegetarian, that the cheapest lunch option on their menu was the dahl curry. For only 690 yen I got a salad, curry and huge naan (see photo sans salad). Super friendly staff, English menus as mentioned in another review and incredibly fast service. I was lucky to get the last table available during the 12 to 1 o'clock lunchtime rush but their efficient service enabled lots of diners to come and go during that period. Will be going back for sure. Highly recommended!
