Reviews on Indian food in Erlangen, Bavaria, Germany. About 10 miles north of Nuremberg, Erlangen is the home of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Friedrich-Alexander-University), founded in 1742. Just over 100,000 people live here, about a third of whom are involved with the university; about another third work for the Siemens corporation. Bergkirchweih, Erlangen’s annual festival - akin to Munich’s Oktoberfest - opens in a different beer cellar every year and is attended by over a million people in its twelve-day run around Pentecost.

Ridiculously hot in the restaurant (Early April!) and extremely sullen unhelpful waiter would not even open the door to let any air in.Ordered a meal with naan instead of rice, we were ignored, brought and charged for both.Service also very slow, seemed to be only one waiter serving. There are better indian restaurants in Erlangen with more staff, friendly staff, that don't feel like you are sitting in a Sauna, and far more attentive to customers.

I visited with a work colleague in the evening. First impressions of the small restaurant we good and we were made very welcome. There were plenty of other diners. The menu made good reading with similar dishes to other Indian restaurants. Unfortunatley that is where the similarity stopped. The pompadoms seemed as if they were straight out of a supermarket shelf. We ordered a mixed starer for 2 and received a plate full of vegatbles tempura that was terrible. We left most of that. The main course curries were similarly disappointing, sharp in taste as well as hot of course. not an ingredient in sight in the sauce (cardomum pod, onion etc) just a sauce. This place has received some good reviews so maybe we caught it on an off night, anyway I shall give it a mis next time

The first thing you are given is not the menu, but a single poppadom (for 4 people!) which issupposedly spicey in a "Germanic" way and thus the "lowest" strength of "spicyness". Total baloney. This goes on with "Germanc plus", "Indo-germanic light", ending with "Indian plus". I wanted to order "Indo-Germanic", expecting it to be medium-hot, as one might expect from a Madras dish, but the owner refused to serve it to me, claiming that my "European" tastebuds would not cope. Instead I was given the "light" version, which was crazily spicy, much more so than one would expect from a Madras, or even a Vindaloo. The food seemed to be nothing more than a demonstration of how dangerous Indian food can be and how we Europeans aren't up to the challenge. The chap wouldn't leave us alone while we were eating, as others have mentioned here before. Sadly can't recommend.

This has been something that we had been missing in Erlangen. Be it Cholle Bhatura, Pani Puri or chicken Lollipop, it is all there. The food taste was just like what you get back in India, the service was friendly and prompt.I got a star off because I thought that the prices were about 15-20% more than what I would have liked to pay.Otherwise, an awesome experience.

Excellent quality made in a authentic traditional way , prices are good for the size of portions and high quality ingredients used. Welcoming hosts and service is exceptional.I've tried all the Indian restaurants in the area and this restaurant is by far the best in every aspect. The other Indian restaurants in the area are highly overrated .

This place was a welcome surprise when we walked in one afternoon. But the staff made us feel welcome immediately and served us with the awesome food made to order. They even helped us order with friendly suggestions here and there. The food came fast and we munched it up in a short span. The best part was the kulfi suggested as dessert which tasted right off indian stores. Thank you Boliwood for making it a great experience,
