I had dinner here this evening and the host family could not have been more accommodating or friendly. The restaurant is not easy to fine, but once there you are made very welcome. The meals were very fresh, the roti delicious and the prices very reasonable. I would not hesitate recommending the Mango Tree, even if just to meet this lovely family and a Pinky the dog.

I don't know where these guys got these pictures from but there is no restaurant running there, it's only a guesthouse and that's that.The youngster with the funky haircut that manages this is a professional hustler. He charges extortionate amounts to rent a plastic scooter and has hassled us a number of times.The best was when we were waiting for a bus. He came out of the hostel and approached us, saying that we are standing in the wrong spot and that we should move 300m further. That's how this guy spends his time. Then he came back after 5 minutes, and told us that there is a bus every one or two hours and that we should take a tuk tuk (all his buddies across the street were salivating to that prospect). We ignored him AGAIN, and alas, after 5 minutes, our bus comes and stops right in front of us. Stay clear

It was our last day in Sri Lanka and we did not want the typical tourist place. We found this place on the map and called to see if it was open. The owner, a sweet and kind woman, prepared everything for us (we were two) as quickly as possible, especially for us, on the wood stove. Lots of fresh vegetable dishes and all delicious. The environment was also an experience. The place is simple and quiet, surrounded by trees, in the backyard of your house. Very recommended.

We had lunch at uprising a few days ago, the spot is amazing and fresh, surrounded by trees and everyone is so helpful! We were served delicious fresh food and probably the best fruit juice I've ever had. Couldn't dream of a better spot to survive the heat!

We were looking for a nice place to have lunch on our way to Trinco & this was a pleasant surprise in Dambulla! Absolutely posh restaurant. Good buffet spread (Ala carte as well). Nice modern clean washrooms. Great service overall! (Driver gets a free buffet.)

We've been at Sandra Guesthouse for 3 nights and had breakfast and dinner each day in Sandra Restaurant (they belong together but are treated seperately). For dinner you get a Rice and Curry Buffet which tastes fantastic. Especially the eggplant was great for us. If you want to eat traditional food at a very reasonable price you should visit this place.
