The Litton is a sympathetically refurbished pub, with 12 boutique rooms, set in the heart of the Somerset Countryside. Menus are inspired by the seasons and by the local, sustainable ingredients available to us. Offering a predominantly modern British cui
We were looking for somewhere different for an anniversary stay and found The Litton on Somerset Hotel website , looked interesting so booked a room for the night and a table for dinner. The website booking was easy and confirmed very quickly and a separate email to confirm dinner reservation. We stopped in nearby Wells and checked in just after 3. There are 2 car parks the biggest is at the front which must be on the main road, our sat have took us to the rear. Very quiet location all you can here is the running water from the brook. Friendly greeting, you checkin at the bar . We were shown to our room on the first floor looking out to the rear of the hotel. It was named The Luturne, well appointed with a really comfy bed with crisp sheets , a good shower and lovely vaulted ceilings. My only issue was that the lighting was so dim, even in the bathroom , making it very difficult to put on make up etc the room despite not having the heating on was very warm. Nothing was too much trouble all of the staff were excellent both at dinner and breakfast and were happy to chat about the history of The Litton. We had a few drinks in the bar , the wine list offers a good selection and even a vegan choice. The bar area is very dog friendly, and there are a couple of separate rooms and a small whiskey bar. The menu was not vast but offered some daily specials, the sticky pork special was nice and offered good flavours it probably could have done with being on a small plate with a small salad rather than a bowl. The battered goats cheese was good. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection with some really tasty chips, the venison ragu was very tasty. A lovely evening, after a good nightâs sleep , it was so lovely and quiet more food awaited in the form of breakfast. Non guests can also come in for breakfast and there is a good choice all cooked to order. The eggs benedict was just enough , the sausage brioche was massive 3 huge tasty sausages. Good coffee no room for anything else but the next tableâs bacon and maple syrup pancakes looked really good. A lovely stay with great service from start to finish.

The George is an award-winning, traditional, dog-friendly, family-owned and operated 17th-century village pub. We serve fresh food prepared from local ingredients, including local meat, game and foraged foods. We grow our own veg, herbs and fruit and make
We visited for Sunday lunch . We thought it was very over priced for the quality of food we had . The garlic mushrooms , just a few mushrooms in some cream not particularly tasting of garlic,The beef was nicely cooked but the roast potatoes tasted as if they had been heated over and over and so were not eaten , a few mixed vegetables well cooked but few . Cauliflower cheese was extra not really tasting of cheese. The desert : the crumble was lovely but my sticky toffee pudding was a dry sponge , not in anyway moist , on a plate with a toffee sauce around it , the ginger ice cream was delicious . I feel these where gourmet pub prices for a Wetherspoon quality meal

We had a super meal at this pub. Starters were very tasty and not too large, main courses all very yummy- we each said we could have eaten any of the 4 on the table. Deserts also not bad- especially the three sorbets. Portion sizes medium, lovely atmosphere at the pub with modern/ quirky decor, not overly busy, good service, warm fires, and we all loved drawing on the tablecloth! Would definitely come back here- either for a weekend lunch with all the generations or evening with friends. Food exceptional enough for a special occasion.

Coffee shop, breakfast, brunch, and lunch using locally sourced quality ingredients freshly cooked. Friendly atmosphere much loved by locals. Great staff. Watch out for special events.
Stumbled upon this whilst collecting stuff from the auction next door! What a gem, they were closing the kitchen for lunch in 10 minutes but never made us feel rushed or unwelcome! The food was excellent quality and really beautifully presented! My lamb was delicious and plentiful and my friends veggie roast was gorgeous with a lovely sauce and presented with its own veggie gravy which he really appreciated!! Can't wait to go back!!Fantastic!!
