Civilization is a cooperatively run restaurant in a historic building near downtown Gainesville Florida. Our menu emphasizes foods from all over the world. In 2015, 67% of entrees sold were Vegetarian and 14% were Vegan. In that same year we purchased $23
Our favorite when we want to confidently eat a healthy meal that is locally sourced. This time I had the daily special, which was a gulf red snapper, perfectly seared of an ample portion. It was served over a bed of lightly fried rice and Asian slaw. It was absolutely delicious. I accompanied that with one of their selection of craft beers. She had her go to favorite, the Thai green curry with shiitake mushrooms. It is also available with shrimp. It is a very flavorful dish served in appropriate quantity. We never leave hungry, and always plan our next visit to this area favorite. Do bring cash, no CCs allowed, but they do have an on premise ATM.

I have visited this location twice now. My daughter goes to school at UF and lives right around the corner. The menu has a great selection, but we always make it for brunch. The management and wait staff are very diligent and I love that my glass is always full.If you are going with a group, make sure to go early or be prepared to wait - It's that good (there is always a wait out the door). FYI - no waiting for the bar if it's just you or a couple.

Stopped at this convienient location for a quick bite. Both my wife and I ordered the grilled cheese and soup. While the food was tasty, the sandwich was extremely small. Had to buy bottled drinks because of water problems in Gainesville, but can't really blame the restaurant for that.

Been here several times, and always a consistent meh. Food is ok. Tonight I tried something different, but still just fine. So were the meals of my three dining companions. Everyoneâs meal was fine. The breeze was great and the drinks were perfect; live music from Swing Theory was quality. But ... then the plastic in the black bean hummus ... final straw. I donât see any good reason to go back for food.
