Weâve been coming to Woolacombe/Croyde for years and are all foodies - weâd heard this place was opening and when it finally did we were not disappointed. Everything cooked fresh and homemade with healthy options for the more waist watching among us!! The Mackerel Taco was to die for and had some amazing pickles inside. My husband had the venison burger which I had to try and the meat was perfectly cooked and served with a zingy tomato and coriander relish - yum! Would definitely recommend a visit if you want something different

May I say what an excellent place for lunch Excellent food. Excellent service friendly staff. If your visiting Ilfracombe. Visit Nelly Mays in Ilfracombe high Street. I am lucky enough to live in Appledore and visit the Royal George weekly. Everyday their menu changes, (they only serve free range or organic locally sourced meat. I canât think of another place nearby that does that). The staff are always friendly, the decor is Nice and the view is breathtaking. The latest menu is the best yet. I am so pleased that I only have to walk five minutes to enjoy their food. On this occasion I invited my parents and my friends for a birthday lunch. We had to preorder which was easy to do. We arrived a bit early and the staff allowed us to bring a cake, balloons and table decorations. We enjoyed some drinks until the food arrived. All of it was perfect, my friends and family were very happy and I had a very relaxed birthday party. I could not recommend this venue enough. Thanks very much to the staff at the Royal George!

Restaurant looks really nice and comfortable. We went in for a family evening meal but turned away despite there being a number of empty tables. Decided to order 3 takeaway pizzas instead. Incredibly overpriced, 2 of the pizzas were dripping with grease, base of pizza box was saturated in oil, meat feast and BBQ chicken. Don't appear to use mozzarella, rather cheddar cheese as a topping. For £34 for 3 takeaway pizzas, you would expect better quality.

Went there after reading reviews and we were not disappointed. Everything was really great from the quality of the food to the service and the bill. The couple of run it have a steady following of regulars who have followed them from other places they have been and this enables them to stay open all year round when others close for the winter. We will certainly return when next in Woolacombe. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Waited at the front of the queue for 10-15 mins without even being looked at or someone saying "we'll be with you in a minute". Eventually ordered two fry ups and had to wait a ridiculous 45 mins for each. The bacon and eggs were burnt/ overdone which was also quite annoying. May have caught them on a bad day but not impressed and would avoid to be honest.We are very sorry to hear of your bad experience at Wild Thyme. It sounds like you visited on a very busy day. We are all trained to let the customer know that "we'll be right with you". Again we are sorry you didn't get this response. Our food is freshly prepared to order and on a busy day you should have been informed that the wait would be longer than usual. It is a shame that your breakfast was not to your liking, if you had told us at the time we would have been happy to offer an alternative or refund.
