My husband and I were on our last day of a 2 week France tour. Being vegan is hard to find good healthy foods in French restaurants. This small cafe-style place has a fresh simple vibe. Among their various meat dishes, we found two kinds of vegetable ravioli, several a la carte plates that really resemble home cooking (no nonsense in their ingredients, I know), the (vegetable) sweat and sour soup was so good we repeated our order once the first bowl was done. At the end, the bill was very reasonable too.It was an excellent way to finish another Europe tour, who knows a small simple restaurant can leave such a high mark before we head home to the U.S.

NZ specialty coffee shop serving great coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch & homemade cakes in a relaxed & friendly atmosphere near the river in Caen, Normandy.
Caen is not a breakfast place at all but this place has all the right things plus really good coffee. Plenty of options for poached egg haters. This place is a godsend on Sundays opening at 10;00am Please note it is closed on Tuesdays so you will have problems finding anything as good. Lovely light and airy cafe, staff very attentive

Finding an early breakfast that was more than a croissant wasn't easy. Stumbled upon The Fruity Cafe and got just what we wanted! Virgil, the barista, speaks excellent English. He directed us across the street to a bakery where we purchased a cheese and tomatoe tarte and a pain au raisins. Carried them back to an outdoor table where Virgil brought coffee, hot chocolate and freshly squeezed orange juice. While we enjoyed breakfast, we watched the street come alive as the shopkeepers opened their doors. All in all, the best possible experience!
