Not being Asian or Hawaiian I was taken by surprise when my garlic/butter shrimp was cooked in the shell. I guess some people like it that way but I'm used to eating shrimp in California and Mexico so it wasn't to my liking. Our guest is a local so I should have ordered what he did. Next time I'll try something else.

What a cracker of an eatery. Everything we had was delicious, especially the seafood pasta which is easy to mangle in lesser hands,. The owners young children took delight in serving the tables and good on them for learning responsibilities in this regard. This place as far as we can tell is the absolute stand out in the area around Captain Cook. We heartily agree with everyone who has rated this highly. It is wise to book as it is very popular, but we walked up and got an inside table on a week night in summer. Plenty of car parking off street.

We ate hear because there were such limited options in Ocean View at the time. Even then, we were disappointed. The food was what you might expect where the food is already cooked and waiting to be served -- that is it was seasoned well but the meat was tough and overcooked. The biggest complaint was the young woman at the counter. She could/would not answer questions about the food, seemed irritated in being asked, made no eye contact. I could see our order at the window ready to pass to us, but for 10 minutes after it was placed in the window, she continued to takes orders of customers coming in. As we got our order, and thanked her, there was absolutely no response. Except for the exceptional waitress at Mehe's, this seems to be the norm of wait staff and clerks in Ocean View. Perhaps there is a universal location they all go to for customer service training.

Gourmet sandwiches and farm-direct organic Kona Rose coffee. Mahina Mele Farm presents.....2 Step Cafe using organic macadamia nut oil and macadamia nuts throughout the menu including macadamia nut pesto and cheese. Enjoy fresh roasted Organic Kona. Smoot
Good location not too far from the Two Step snorkel spot. Good natural food for reasonable prices. Sandwiches were good included vegan chick pea option. Tacos were good not great. Liked all the ingredients including the fish, cabbage and aioli however tortillas did not seemed heated so sort of ruined it. May have been a new cook? Breakfasts looked good. It is in a nice outdoor courtyard Not fancy but relaxing and in the shade. We would return to this restaurant. Also would like to try Annieâs burgers and big island bbq.

We locals love this place, recently renamed Kona Grill. Located in a blue-painted warehouse, with picnic tables outside and inside, the restaurant's seafood is fantastic, the home-made sauces unique, featuring unusual sides like seaweed salad. As if that weren't enough, the friendly staff is full of aloha. Utterly un-touristy!

This is not a high-end restaurant. They have had the same menu for decades. You know what you are getting - very tasty food. Their side dishes are all first rate. I always have the pork chops - but people tell me there other dishes are good too. Clearly great recipes and know-how from doing this for a long time. (Oldest restaurant on the island). Hours are short. Reservations are a good idea.

Herbert is the name we gave to the lizard . Heâs a cute little dude who will gladly help you finish up your sweet jam. This is a gorgeous place to grab a coffee and some breakfast. Get there early for a good seat. Decent veggie options. Friendly staff. Service is super fast. My only tip: cut back on the cooking oil. Worth a visit..... if just to say hi to Herbert. Seeing Herbert may reminds you that all living beings have a soul... maybe skip the bacon next time

About 24 miles south of Kona International Airport...on Mamalahoa Hwy. Absolutely the BEST fish and chips ANYWHERE. Fresh, light batter, chips are thinly sliced and delicious. We have gone there several times on each of our last 3 vacations to the Big Isl
We got a recommendation to stop here for a bite to eat on our way south. We tried the fish and chips for 2. My wife isn't a big fan of fish and chips, but really enjoyed these. You can get the fish and chips with either the standard fries or substitute sweet potato fries, onion rings, or side salad. They have a nice outdoor garden setting to eat in. They also have a counter that serves coffee drinks, ice cream and shaved ice. We stopped back again a separate time for the shaved ice and it was really good.

Serving Breakfast and Lunch options. The finest 100% Kona Coffee Beverages, and Fresh Fruit Smoothies.
This small establishment offers a cozy, relaxed vibe. 4 of us, ourselves and our 2 teenage grandsons visited for a late lunch. There is a pool table available which kept the boys occupied while we waited for our food. And when it did, we were all happy! Not only was it visually attractive but also delicious. Everything from the taco plate to the wraps and paninis was a hit. We wanted to return once more but found that the restaurant is closed on Mondays, the only day we could have gone.

If you want authentic Hawaiian food, this is the place to go. It's a little out of the way, but worth it. For out of towners, I recommend you calling ahead and placing a take out order to bring back to where you are staying and eating there.
