Find out what Grill restaurants to try in York. Just two hours north of London by rail, the city of York holds 1900 years' worth of history in its ancient walls. The Romans built the city in 71 AD, and the Vikings captured it in 866 AD. Stop by the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens for a look at what the Roman and Vikings left behind (they must have packed light when they left). From there, move on to the York Castle Museum for a not-so-quick overview of the most recent 400 years.

We ate dinner here last night, completely spontaneously, and were very happy that we stumbled across it while looking for somewhere to eat.The venue itself is lovely, very modern, open kitchen, downstairs switches to more of a social/bar type area later in the evening. Ordered a few starters to share between us and they were all great. The calamari was very impressive - something we all have regularly and the best weâve had in ages. Also very impressed by the halloumi and how this was cooked. A mixture of mains - Spanish risotto, burger, seafood linguine, mussels - again all brilliant. Loved it! Great cocktails too and very friendly staff
