Fantastic atmosphere during the "Mosselfeesten", absolute must-go when in Middelburg in the end of July. The "mosselwok" is definitely one of the best mussels I have ever come to eat. Not even mentioning the party afterwards in the evening, where I ended up in the cozy rooms, which are attached to the restaurant. Great brasserie with an edge in one of the buzzing streets of Middelburg!

We came here on a Sunday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised. First of all it is a very nice sand beach. The place itself has indoor and outdoor facilities with great view. Restrooms are available, a pin terminal so that you can pay with bank card, free WiFi basically everything modern wanderer needs. But the best of all is the staff. They were very friendly, we felt really welcome! The other best thing is the food. Given the location and the size of the place they offer quite a variety of food in a remarkably decent quality. Let's not forget this is basically a wooden shack with a terrace. The third best thing is the price. Absolutely fair! Given the location, directly on the beach, they could play the tourist trap game but don't, instead good value for money. To sum it up:Friendly staff Good foodFair prices Top beach locationSugar coated with free WiFi Wanderer if you come to Vlissingen giving kontiki beach a visit can be recommended, we will be back.

We went here for a dinner, a bit reluctant - first month I heard many complaints from fellow citizens, but heck - this can be opening issues. Unfortunately in it's 2nd month still there were many issues which made the dinner a disappointment. To start with the good things, the terrace is nice and centrally located, and the staff was friendly, and fast - gave a happy impression. I ordered a rib-eye, with mayonaise and french fries - both had to paid additionally, which set me back for 23 euro's. This is for a very small cup of mayonaise, and a very small piece of rib-eye. The rib-eye, ordered rare, was in fact cooked medium - to well done. Conclusion: waiting staff did their utmost best, kitchen staf don't know how to cook steak. Problem is.. this is a steak restaurant.

It's a nice restaurant, Pretty much what you would expect from a bit upmarket steakhouse. Furishing is pleasant, Waiters are friendly and work fast. Prices are about the same as what you will pay in the adjacent French cuisine restaurants and that is rather high for a steakhouse. That is ok, if your core business = steak ! is excellent. A medium cooked steak in a steakhouse must be tastefull and tender. Here the meat quality was not good enough to accomplish the latter. The center part of the steak is the tricky part, and that should be tender enough to allow your knife slicing easily through. That is not the case, not by a long shot.... Also: close to 20 euro for half a liter housewine is way overpriced and please..... stop filling the baked potato with fatty, gravy like sauce ! Serve sour cream. Not on top, but next to. That's the way it is done. Hey, it's not all negative: the pork was excellent , deserts were excellent . Still guys, if you have upmarket pretences you should live up to that standard. Tip: buy your meat from a local butcher, from local cows that have spend their lives grazing outdoors. And advertize largely with that ! A win for everyone, including the cows. The meat will be tender and worth its money.
