It is located 14.1 miles (22.7 km) northeast of Charing Cross and is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. It was historically a market town in the county of Essex and formed the administrative centre of the liberty of Havering, until it was dissolved in 1892. Good road links and the opening of the railway station in 1839 were key to the development of the town and the economic history of Romford is underpinned by a shift from agriculture to light industry and then to retail and commerce. As part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Romford significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming a municipal borough in 1937 and has formed part of Greater London since 1965. It now forms one of the largest commercial, retail, entertainment and leisure districts outside central London and has a developed night-time economy.

Our first time to Ginger Spice and we were not disappointed, service 10/10, food 10/10 presented beautifully and you could see a huge investment in the fit-out, the restaurant was comfortable and we were not rushed a very pleasant evening with friends, made better by our friends choice of restaurant, Iâm looking forward to my next visit.

We, as a couple have visited this restaurant many many times in the last 20 years. We have seen management and menus change some for the better and some neutral. I will get to tonight's visit in a minute. About 3 months ago we went for what we thought would be a great meal and in fact a great evening. Oh dear. Poor service. Waiting staff struggled to understand our orders and was made to feel quite uncomfortable. We ate our food , paid our bill and left feeling quite disappointed, we put this down as a one off. We went back tonight and the restaurant was very quiet with about 4 or 5 staff on veiw. We ordered drinks which were wrong, we ordered pre starters which were wrong, we ordered starters which one came to the table and about 10 minutes later they asked if we had ordered another starter. Feeling extremely disappointed and starter number 1 gone cold we asked for the bill and spoke to management. We was offered an apology and a discount but we refused the discount saying we wa s disappointed with the service once again. I understand that management want to maximise the profit, but employing people that can not understand the language is unacceptable. I honestly felt that white English speaking people were not welcome. Its fair to say that we will not be returning. They lost out on a big bill and genourous tip.

We visited this pub on a very warm Friday night, other pubs were very packed and we did not want to wait ages for a drink. We went to this pub and found seats so we stayed. The service was good, the drinks were not too expensive, the seats were OK, some chairs could do with replacing but there was a good atmosphere in there and we loved the music being played, which was sixties music. We have drunk here before and will go back.Hi Joanie H, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! and do hope we see you again soon we have entertainment every last Friday of the month , and occasional singers , our next event is the 3 rd of August with our soul night. Average food, big problem was the surprise parking ticket .Went there asked the Manager for help with the receipt said that she is not responsible , caused the scene I had no choice but to leave! Avoid at all costs!Hi andreym2001,Thank you for your comments regarding our establishment and food. However, we are very sorry to hear that you feel this way. Unfortunately, there are several signs dotted around the car park instructing our guests to register their vehicle registration upon arrival. We have also taken i t upon ourselves to place more signs around the pub in general, the restaurant and on our tills so that our guests do not get a penalty charge notice. I can assure you that the car park is managed to enable our guests to be able to park in our car park as we have limited space and are surrounded by residential & businesses that lack parking facilities.
