Filemón Parrilla is an establishment specialized in the handling, cutting and production of the best aged meat, with the highest quality standards. Keeping the good taste of a real roasted steak, all this accompanied by an unparalleled service where, with
This delightful restaurant is situated in the beautiful countryside between Rionegro and the pueblo, La Ceja. Last Sunday, we met a couple of friends at Filemon to celebrate "The Day of the Woman." Our dining experience at this cozy parrilla was a pleasant surprise. Great food + excellent service + reasonable prices = Outstanding value. We made reservations for 1:00 pm, and when we arrived the dining room was virtually empty. By the time our friends arrived 15 minutes later, it was filled to capacity. (I guess everyone had the same idea.) The restaurant offers a beautiful vista of the countryside. The dining room is comfortable, cozy and conducive to convivial dining among families and friends. Filemon offers a variety of beef, pork and chicken prepared over a charcoal fire. The meat is excellent quality and aged to perfection before the chefs at Filemon perform their magic. As far as beef goes, the menu offers both standard and premium cuts. (The premium cuts are extra thick and comparable to USDA quality). A typical grilled beef dish will run about 27,000 pesos ($8.50 US) while the extra thick cut beef selections are priced at 36,000 pesos ($11.50 US). The portions are generous, too.I ordered the BBQ ribs which set me back 23,000 pesos ($7.00 US). The portion was not quite a full rack of ribs, but more than half. My ribs were tasty and fall-off-the-bone tender. They were excellent in every respect and among the best ribs I have eaten in El Oriente. I would not classify them as babyback, but they were still just as tender and tasty. I also finished up my wife's pepper steak which was excellent. It was not as tender as I am used to, but it passed muster. Garden salad and a choice of potato accompanies each meal. Fried plantain chips are served as a complimentary entree. For those who are still hungry after their meal, a dessert selection is available. The bar offers a selection of soft drinks, juices, beer, liquor and international wines. The service at Filemon is both warm and professional. Our waiter, Jorge, was on top of his game and tended to our every need and request. Excellent WIFI Internet is available in the dining room. Filemon Parrilla is highly recommended and one of the best values in El Oriente for a great meal.

Tiene una excelente vista y lleno de arboles para concectarse con la naturaleza, ademas es amigable con las mascotas.En las tardes frias y noche, encienden una fogata que calienta el espacio y el ambiente se hace más agradable.
Last week, I enjoyed one of the best cuts of beef at El Potero Estadero-Bar in San Antonio de Pereira. San Antonio is a growing pueblo half a mile outside Rionegro, Antioquia. My wife, a couple of friends and I were house hunting in San Antonio, and stopped at El Potero for a late lunch. The restaurant/bar is situated on the main street of San Antonio a few yards from the town square (or parque principal). The restaurant offers a variety of traditional "paisa" food including favorites such as bandeja paisa, sancocho and an assortment of grilled meat, poultry and fish platters. Fresh fruit juice, soft drinks and domestic beer and liquor are available. The restaurant is decorated in typical paisa motif (rustic, wooden furniture and antique art). In the center of the fonda is a stage and lighting for live entertainment. I noticed that there is a bar in front of the restaurant that sells bottles of rum and aguardiente to accompany the night time entertainment. I would describe the overall atmosphere of the fonda as inviting and fun... and an ideal place for family and friends to gather for a meal or to enjoy a little nightlife. The restaurant is clean and sanitary. The staff at El Potero is friendly and attentive... and quick to help with any questions about the pueblo. I enjoyed chatting with them, and found their information very helpful.I ordered the solomito platter (beef filet) which cost about 28,000 pesos ($12 US). Potatoes and salad accompanied the entrée. The beef filet was outstanding... tender and tasty... and prepared exactly according to my instructions. The meet was so tender it was almost possible to cut it with a fork. The cut was generous and filling. I loved the salad and steak fries as well. My wife and friends ordered traditional poultry and meat platters. I tried a portion of the grilled chicken breast and found it to be exceptional as well.My experience at El Potero was a pleasant one, and I hope to return for another excellent meal very soon. The quality and preparation of the food is top shelf... and the restaurant offers a traditional menu that is varied and inexpensive. Four of us enjoyed an excellent lunch for around 70,000 pesos ($29 US) including drinks and tips. In my humble opinion, this is an excellent value. El Potero Estadero - Bar is highly recommended for anyone visiting San Antonio de Pereira.

Restaurante Cazuela y Tizon is an excellent choice for good, inexpensive meals. My family and friends eat here often. The restaurant is located on the corner of Parque San Antonio, and is a favorite spot among locals and visitors to the pueblo. The restaurant is relatively small, but accommodates up to 60 people comfortably. Dining is offered either on the outside terrace or inside the open air facilities. The proximity to a busy street out front may bother some diners. Service at Cazuela y Tizon is cheerful and usually prompt and efficient. The menu at this restaurant offers a variety of platos tipicos of "paisa" cuisine. Grilled beef, pork and chicken chuzos (kebobs) with sides of potato, plantain and salad is very popular with customers. The meat is flavorful and juicy. Cazuela y Tizon is also known for its casseroles or cazuelas. There are several different varieties consisting of beans, bacon, ground meat, and avocado. A personal favorite of mine is the seafood casserole. Cazuelas are filling and will satisfy any appetite. Another popular dish is the bandeja paisa... a sampler of local specialties including thick-cut bacon, ground beef, beans, rice, plantain, sausage and a fried egg. Several fish and seafood dishes are included in the menu as well including robalo (sea bass) and trucha (trout). The fish is prepared either grilled, grilled with garlic or smothered in marinero (shell fish in a crème sauce). The famed "arepa" is served in a variety of different ways as well. Local bottled soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are served from the bar. It is hard to go wrong at this restaurant. The food is all good and prepared with lots of TLC. Meals will not break the bank, and for the prices paid, dining at Restaurant Cazuelas y Tizon is very good value.

If you live or are visiting in the Rionegro, Antioquia area, Savannah Bar Restaurante is the place for excellent beef. The domestic beef served at this steakhouse is comparable to the finer cuts of US beef. Savannah is tucked away inside Mall Puerto Bulevar at the junction of the Jose Maria Cordoba Airport and Don Diego-Llanogrande roads in the Llanogrande vereda of Rionegro. The restaurant is popular with locals and ex-pats who enjoy great beef. Mall Puerto Bulevar is an open air emporium of international restaurants located less than 10 minutes away from the Jose Maria Cordoba International Airport. The menu consists of a variety of grilled and charcoal dishes. From personal experience, I would stick with the grilled beef dishes. Beef dishes are Savannah's strength while other dishes not so much. Savannah beef is tasty and tender... my favorite is the Sterling cut beef done medium rare. Entrees are accompanied by excellent sides (including potato served as per request). Optional appetizers are available at additional cost. Fresh fruit juice, bottled soft drinks, domestic and international beer, liquor and wine are available from the bar. The restaurant is open air, and ideal for business or family dining. The staff is friendly and courteous... meals are delivered promptly "hot off the grill." My wife and I visit Savannah several times a month because we can be assured of excellent beef at very reasonable prices. For beef dishes, I highly recommend Savannah Bar Restaurante.

Since moving to the Rionegro area (also known as "La Oriente") I have experienced fine cuts of beef in a number of restaurants in its pueblos and rural countryside. One restaurant, El Patio de San Antonio, stands out when it comes to charcoal grilled beef. Today, I had the culinary pleasure of dropping in for lunch. After dining on a delicious "Sterling" cut of beef grilled to perfection over a charcoal grill or "parrilla", I left the restaurant full and satisfied. El Patio's menu is comprised of typical Colombian "paisa" dishes including beef, pork, poultry and fish. More than half of the selections are prepared "a la parrilla" (over a charcoal grill). The menu includes an assortment of appetizers such as soups, salads and finger foods like empanadas. The restaurant also bakes various breads and pastries which are available for purchase at the front end of the restaurant. I ordered the "Sterling" beef. It was a generous cut of tender meat, steeped in a delicious marinade of pineapple, before being grilled to perfection over charcoal. A baked potato smothered in a tangy white salsa and a garden salad accompanied the entrée. I enjoyed two large guanabana juices with my meal. Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are available as well. The 400 gram (14 oz) cut of beef was tender and tasty. I ordered my selection, and the chef prepared it accordingly... just the way I like it. The total price for this mini-feast came to 36,000 pesos (or $11.50 US). Needless to say, this is an incredible value!El Patio is situated less than 50 yards from Parque San Antonio, the heart of the pueblo. The restaurant sets amongst a bevy of restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries, dessert bars and discotheques. El Patio is an excellent place to start out an evening of nightlife, and perfect for dining with family, friends, business associates or that "someone special." The restaurant is a series of adjoining rectangles that terminates in a large outdoor patio (the main dining area). The atmosphere is very paisa and friendly. Décor and furnishings are typical Colombian provincial. The premises are maintained neat and clean, and service is both genuinely friendly and efficient. My server, Juan Carlos, did an exceptional job of making sure my dining experience was a memorable one.El Patio de San Antonio comes highly recommended!
