Founded as a trade house, grocery store, cafe and tavern in 1954 by Mr. Manuel "Manelvina" Isabel. From the year 1997 Mr. Alfredo "Manelvina" Isabel improved and expanded the space as a bigger tavern and snack house. There was no shortage of cheeses and h
We found this restaurant through TA but it's also very known by locals. It's a bit in the middle of nowhere but every table was reserved. We got several dishes of quality sausages, bacon, steak, etc. accompanied by a delicious tomato salad and french fries. We had a caraf of good red house wine and dessert. The total was a mere â¬36!And on top of that you get a tasty liquor, a pastry and a smile. What do you want more?

We arrived early but there was no-one else in the restaurant all the time we were there, so the ambience was not great. It is a very homely, typical Portuguese restaurant and we were made to feel very welcome. Our food was freshly cooked and very tasty and we were served quickly. Very reasonable price too.

This was our second visit to the restaurant. The first time we visited was the week they opened and although the food was good, as to be expected in an opening week, the service was not the best.Tonight the food was really excellent, top quality and beautifully cooked. The service was attentive and helpful and we had an excellent evening. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Casa dos Grelhados to anyone that enjoys excellent, fresh food. We will return again for certain.

Muito bom, apesar da apresentação não ser de restaurante (sala ampla com mesas e cadeiras, só) a comida é divinal, aquele sabor como a minha mãe fazia, tradicional e irresistÃvel, a repetir definitivamente.

Tucked away just behind the church square in Nadadouro, a small village about 3km west of Caldas da Rainha, this little gem of a restaurant is a family-run business. Father grows most of the vegetables and salad and as a local fisherman provides the fresh fish, shell fish, crab, eel and octopus caught daily from the Lagoa de Obidos; mother cooks and daughter, Susana, looks after service. Having eaten there on a regular basis for two years we have never had a bad experience. The welcome from Susana is genuinely warm and the service efficient - nothing is too much trouble. Adjacent to the restaurant, a large terrace with bbq area has outside seating for 30/40 and overlooks a lovely valley and open countryside. On the other side of the restaurant the same owners run a small friendly bar serving great coffee and home made deserts. There is nothing pretentious about the food; meat and fish are bbq'd or grilled to perfection and served simply with salad, potatoes/chips and rice. The local black pudding (morcela) served with sliced orange makes a delicious starter. Amongst our favourite main courses are the slow-cooked roast duck and oven-baked octopus with garlic, onion and baby roast potatoes (both are cooked to special order with 24hrs advance notice). The grilled black pork has a wonderful flavour and texture and nothing like it's bland UK equivalent. On our last visit I probably eat the best and tastiest garlic prawns ever! Portions are large and salad and chips keep coming - for this quality and quantity of food you will eat and drink very well for under £30 per couple. The house wine, both red and white is perfectly gluggable and at less than £4/litre be careful of the steps at the door. There's an excellent lunch menu for about £5 with a choice of two or three main dishes from the 'menu da dia'. We recently tried the rabbit casserole - as wholesome and tasty as it gets and there was sufficient to take home for lunch the following day.
