We visited the Miners Arm on holiday . They had a fantastic range of beer and the staff were really friendly and helpful. They have got a great value menu for kids and were really flexible to adapt the menu too. We went on curry night, and they offered a great deal on a curry and beer (£10!) The curries were a bit tame and it would be good to see some spicy ones on offer. They did a fantastic burgers too . If your staying at the nearby Whitemead Forest Park you can walk through the Forest to the pub. Perfect excuse to leave the car at home. Thank you for leaving such a positive review Joy, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit. I've forwarded your helpful constructive comments about the curry to the kitchen team and provided them with some scotch bonnet chilli's so they'll make an appearance in one of the curry's on Wednesday this week. Hope you come back and see us next time you stay at Whitemead - as you say it's only a walk through the forest away.

The Coach and horses is a really cosy old inn. The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and warm. Lovely local restaurant, have eaten there a few times with friends & everyone has always had good meals. The service is always friendly & attentive, it is always busy & for good reason. Think over all value & portions good, have had the starter size risotto for main before. Extensive menu choice which normally makes me nervous about quality but between us we have had several dishes & all the starters & mains are fab, especially the risottos. But feel the desserts are disappointing (tiramsu is OK) after the choice & quality of other courses. Luckily always full after main but would love to have choice of really good home made Italian desserts.

We visited this cafe completely by accident. We had started out very early, pre breakfast. So with 2 children and 3 hungry adults we arrived at what we now know as Al's Diner. At first glance on pulling into the area we thought the sign for 'Cafe Open' was an old sign that hadn't been removed. Thankfully that wasn't the case. Absolutely clean, spacious area, indoor and outdoor eating area, loads of parking spaces. Food was cooked to order, catered for the children so you don't have to stick to the menu. Lovely friendly people. The place started filling up whilst we were there so it must be popular with local people; a hidden gem, hopefully not for too long. Looks like there is some work going on, erecting framework for some type of buildings surrounding the cafe. Don't let that put you off.
