New York Gyros & Subs

Just discovered this place--a bit hidden off of 120th. Well worth the trip. They have a very extensive menu--hard to choose. The falafel and gyro salad was excellent, as was the tuna sub. Everything is freshly made. The owner and his wife are very pleasant people, and very accommodating. We will be back again.

Okay, I realize that the restaurant probably deliberately misspelled tzatziki--but it's a good summary for the restaurant itself. This was the first restaurant we at at in the Thornton/Northglenn area. It was not the worst restaurant, but it was perilously close.Basically, the food was edible. Most of it, anyway. I got a platter and my husband got a sandwich. I got steak, my husband got chicken. My steak was in large chunks, sort of like somebody took a large ribeye and cut it into three pieces, and it was good, but it resembled nothing Mediterranean I have ever had. It was served with one tiny little piece of flatbread that was hard as a rock and roughly the size of one of the pieces of meat. I had a side of fruit with my meal that I did not eat because it was old, but the Greek salad that came with it was okay, and the tzatziki that came with it was good, but since the pita was stale I ate it by itself. My husband did not like his sandwich. He said it was bland. We also had desserts with our food, a piece of chocolate cake that was so-so and a piece of baklava that was good--you can't mess up baklava. I'm pretty sure it was made somewhere else.We love Mediterranean food. This, whatever it was, is not Mediterranean food. Oh, and while we waited for our food, we tried to sit at a table, and almost all of them were dirty even though there were only two other groups of people there. Maybe they were waiting until the restaurant closed to clean the whole place? It was about 8PM.Anyway, giving it an average rating for average food. I think if I forgot I was eating Mediterranean food, I could really like the steak!

Red Rooster Cafe

This diner in located in an industrial neighborhood and therefore gets several local workers. The food is good and seems to be prepared there (real sliced fried breakfast potatoes..not the frozen kind) Prices are reasonable and servings are quite large..may wanna split if you can’t take leftovers with you. The breakfast burrito is on the spicy side..the sausage gravy is more like a country gravy but the biscuits are very good.
