Find out what Greek restaurants to try in Thiva. Thebes (/θiːbz/; Ancient Greek: Θῆβαι, Thēbai, Greek pronunciation: [tʰɛ̂ːbai̯]; Greek: Θήβα, Thíva [ˈθiva]) is a city in Boeotia, central Greece. It played an important role in Greek myths, as the site of the stories of Cadmus, Oedipus, Dionysus and others. Archaeological excavations in and around Thebes have revealed a Mycenaean settlement and clay tablets written in the Linear B script, indicating the importance of the site in the Bronze Age.
Restaurants in Thiva
It's a Souvlaki place. (Why trip advisor doesn't recognize this cuisine is beyond me.) Anyway, excellent food, good prices, friendly service! Seats like 30 people inside and way more outside (in the summer at least). All kinds of people eat there - teenagers, families, dates, adults, etc... And the staff seems to know everyone. Good sign...i guess people keep coming back for more! Kali orexi;-)
Semeli restaurant is a new place opened in Thiva in Nov.2009, but the name was already known because of the five years old activity of their cuisine (as take out, delivery and party/catering organisers). But today, the next step forward has be done: Finding free their next building, the owners took the opportunity and united their previous store, making a very warm and cosy place where you can dine and enjoy their home made food. This new restaurant operates daily (except Sunday) as from 11 in the morning till 6 in the afternoon. Furthermore, it's open every Friday and Saturday night, offering some extra dishes and an open bar. Food is known to locals. Greek traditional cuisine, with a modern touch, such as Vegetable Milfeig with Philadelphia cheese, Baked Potatoes, Meatballs in red sauce and many salads, as the mains follow like Pork in the oven, Chicken dishes, Burgers, Pasta etc. At the noon, you can also find Pastichio, Moussaka and many other cooked choices as lamb and chicken. The taste was very good, everything was perfectly presented and fresh. Prices are nice! And the decoration and style is really excellent, something between a classic trattoria and a youth trendy place to be, with a wonderful bar in the middle of the store, where someone can enjoy a full bar drink. Selemi, is a place that not only offers an alternative to the Thiva's scenery as enviroment, but also gives a more classy sense of dinning, far better than the tavernas and grill houses... Plus: The easy parking of the area and their wine and beer list. Absolutely worths the visit.

Milanezza is the first and still the best pizza restaurant in Thiva, Greece. It is a family run and very good store, that works only evenings (from 19:00 - 00:30) and works as restaurant, but also as delivery. It's on the small pedestrian road of Skourtaniotou str, behing the big pedestrian road, and locates 100 meters away from the Hotels Meletiou and the Niovi Hotel. As the store is near the central square of the town, is one of the top 5 options, for dinning in town, especially without needing to move your car or call a taxi. Easily reached by feet, in summer offers the option of outside dining, on the pavement or even at the back private yard. In winter times, it has a very warm and welcoming space, with many tables. The whole style takes you back in '80's as the decoration and furniture is a mix of Italian Trattoria and Tyrolean Gasthof and the place remains the same from it's opening, but no-one of the customers seems to bother.Food is good and tasty. They use fresh materials, bought every day and all meats served are totally fresh. No frozen materials are used and this gives an extra plus to the taste of the dishes, no matter if dinning-in, or they deliver your place. Service can be a little slow, especially if the restaurant is full. I have visited it many times and have a good opinion of the plates. Except the pizza, which is probably the best in town you can also find salads (fresh), There is also pasta (only spaghetti) with napolitain sauce or carbonara (cream, bacon and mushrooms). And the grill is on fire! Steaks (pork or beef) , snitzels (simple or stuffed with ham and cheese), burgers (simple or stuufed with yellow cheese), fillets (veal or pork and also fish filled), sausages. All in very good prices (A main dish, -large portion- as example two big burgers with the aside cost's EUR 6.50). Pizza in the restaurant, the special with everything in it costs EUR 9.00 and for delivery or take out costs EUR 8.00For drinking there is only water, refreshments, beer and non-bottled wine, from the region of Thiva.Ordering a dish, means you can also choose the aside in the plate, such as rice, or spaghetti, or smashed potatoes or french fries, with the sauce of your choice. The menu isn't big enough, but that normal, as every dish is prepared after order and nothing is pre-fixed so the cuisine would be able offer good quality, if the number of main dishes was bigger. The only minus is they don't serve any desserts, the non existance of a wine list and further wine options and the fact that they use the same tomato sauce on every dish so you get use to the taste asily, but locals doesn't seem to care and pay tactical visits to the store. The restaurants is suitable for friends and groups and also for families. Please note that is one of the few places that smoking is forbitten (according to the law, all restaurants should be smoke frre, but... this doesn't happens in other places in the town). And if I had to suggest...don't miss the pizza and the burgers
It seems that I finally found the BEST souvlaki style food in town, because all other (that I order from all these years are medium to bad rated!). Very tasty, very clean!I have tried everything from their (not long) menu and one-by-one was very tasty (souvlaki, pitta-gyros etc). Big hit is also their Burger. They also deliver. Absolutely recommended (for greek fast food)

Few metres from the centre of Domvrena village (20' from Thiva) is "hidden" one of the best pizza you'll ever taste.Awarded twice in Canada. Handmade dough & pizza/spaghetti sauses. Happy decoration and atmosphere. At summertime you can enjoy your drink a
The service is very good and the people are so kind and care about your every need. The food was very tastefull and the portions are quite generous. It's quite hard to leave without a full stomach and satisfied. The atmosphere is relaxing, colourful and simple. In the summertime the tables outside are a great touch. My overall opinion is that you won't be dissapointed if you choose this restaurant for your meal.
This restaurant offers a variety of very nice and tasty local specialties. Very nice personnel, and we were offered a complimentary dessert and digestive. All for a very fair price.

Zhthos is an all-day restaurant-cafe-bar, located in the central pedestrian street of Thiva. Our menu covers a variety of salads, appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Customers have the opportunity to taste a selection of 7 drought beers, various Greek w
This is probably the most beatiful place as restaurant in Thiva (stone walls, nice lighting, long bar to enjoy your drink). It offers real restaurant dishes, it's clean and it's the perfect escape from the classic souvlaki or old-sheep chops that all other taverns in the area serve... It is located on the pedestrian zone in the center of town, has a few tables for outdoor dining, but it's really nice inside
Simple but cozy and with delicious tastes, is hidden in a very central place no hard to find. Staff are two young men - the owners - who transformed a rather historical small place to a nice small tavern with delicious plates! There is nothing luxurious, but these 2 young men will do their best to fill your mouth with unique tastes they made by themselves! The fact that menu is not standard, keeps their fans alert for a new visit all the time. Salads (Greek horiatiki and letuce) were excellent and both plates returned empty...first plates came for free to taste and were all delicious! We ordered meat mix grill and we were happy that the potatoes were fresh and nor frozen! portions are rather big, so be prepared...A really worthy visit!

Although it's a very beautiful tavern, next to the train station, with nice outdoor decoration (trees, flowers, stone floor) and a stunning interior decoration....I was a little bit dissatisfacted because its main food is meat. Good food and prices but they should recall expand their menu and from tavern, upgrade it to restaurant. Having foods like moussaka, gemista, soutzoukakia or anything besides meat, will bring more customers too.

Unpretentious eatery in a central location, with an extensive printed menu and not much effort at decor or atmosphere, serving extraordinarily good meat, precisely cooked, with imaginative sauces. Highly recommended!
