Traditional food..
We had lunch at Kathodon twice during our 4-day stay in Serres. And we really loved it! Service is excellent and the food is...an ode to the palate! I recommend their soutzoukaki and chicken souvlaki. Don't forget to order some hot pita bread, a politiki salad and some of their great red wine!!

Located in a region that abounds in wildlife, this friendly taverna restaurant offers exactly what a traveler would need to conclude a day of interesting sightseeing!Almost all the dishes served are prepared in a traditional way, in a wood burning oven and 'gastra'. We tried 'pereki', a local speciality and a beautifully cooked bison meat stew, along with good red house wine. Mrs Ourania, the owner, was kind enough to provide us with all the details we seeked about the traditional local cuisine. Very friendly staff, great service, excellent location! We need to come back in the Spring of summer!

Typical greek grill food restaurant where someone can taste souvlaki , soutzoukaki sausages etc. I was studying for many years in Serres and this place had always tasty food. Not bad at all. I think the fair rating would be 3.5 / 5Fair prices, simple place, outdoors and indoors seating.

The authentic traditional greek bougatsa from 1952.
Serres city, famous for its 'bougatsa' pies is worth visiting just for that...'Rekor' still maintains the charm of the old & traditional bougatsa cafe, thanks to Simos, its owner, who tries hard to keep its old charm. He looks after the patrons, mostly elderly locals, while the well-known quality of the pies is preserved! Service is friendly & efficient in the busy hours and the low-priced pies taste great and hot. Of course, the magically 'airborne' Fyllo makes the whole difference in their fine texture...Looking forward to having them again and again!

You can find simple but tasty food from the greek tradition. The best dishes are souvlaki and soutzoukaki (meat balls). I also recommend the barrel retsina, the traditional greek white wine with pine resin.

On Christmas Eve this year (December 2017), we had a lovely lunch at the restaurant located at the Acropolis of the city of Serres, in Macedonia. The food was very tasty and mouth-watering!!! Friendly staff always smiling and willing to help. This felt that we were at home. The food was so delicious that we had a short chat with the Chef, a kind and courteous person with a deep knowledge and expertise in gastronomy. Highly recommended!!!

This is certainly one of the best taverna in Serres. For gourmet taste, and plenty of choice.Open all days and during all the year.Just after the mainplace of Serres, but not among all the others tavernas.Good choice.

I recently visited the place with my friends. I wouldn't go there again. It is a plain tavern in a village trying to look posh. But the bad behavior of the staff and the "show-off" dishes prove that the place isn't worthy. Too expensive for dishes which look gourmet but the taste is nothing unusual. Much delay to take your order and bring the food. Not to mention that it took 30 minutes to bring the bill to us. Definitely not a nice place for families because there is no playground to keep the children occupied in the winter. But there is a huge garden for the summer.Interior design looked from the 80's. My friends were actually left hungry because there were no vegeterian or vegie meals. Definitely not recommended for people who don't live in this village.

It is one of the top ranked places to eat in Serres. The Greek salad was nice. The pork also. But the chicken souvlakia were not very fresh and were covered with plenty of spaycies in order to cover the old chicken meat. They made a small conpliment to as nice choco dessert with vanilla ice cream, which was nice but still the chicken meant was not good. Apart this, the service is fast, the place is in the centre ot the city but is calm and cozy.
