Always have tables available, never have had a bad meal! The lemon chicken rice soup is yummy, my go to when I am sick. Have had big family celebration dinners here. Very consistent! Love our neighborhood restaurant. Free food is good here!

I've lived in the Middle East, and this is one of the best M.E. themed restaurants I've found in the East Bay. It's an extensive menu, with much more than the usual hummus-and-pita offerings. Everything I've ordered has been delicious.The only gripe - and it is a serious one - is that parking is extremely limited. Be prepared to park on the street a bit away and walk.

we were seeking something new, something out of the ordinary, and something by way of vegetarian fare. we were not disappointed.the meals are prepared by a Jordanian couple and the taste of the dishes we tried were fabulous! if you are familiar with Turkish, Greek, or Afghani cuisine, you will certainly enjoy Shami. The restaurant is basic and not adorned with the usual rugs and heavy tapestry found in middle eastern restaurants. it is basic and bright. but we were after quality not ambiance and if interesting and tasty food is what you are seeking, then look no further.
