Things to do in Kirkland

Found this little gem via the TripAdvisor community when searching for a lunch spot close to my language school.Conveniently located in the heart of Kirkland with ample parking outside. Service was speedy, albeit a little on the light side (the didn't ask many questions and the waiter seem to rather serve plates than taking orders).Food choice is great, if you like Greek and/or Persian food. The garlic pita breads that came for the table were jummy and the rest of the food was as well.Ambience is fine, despite having had half the restaurant occupied by a farewell lunch group! :)We will absolutely be back here.

We were 8 people who were celebrating 2 birthdays last night at Marathonâs in DDO. I brought in my own birthday cake to serve later on after dinner. Service was fast and efficient, as usual. We ordered a few appetizers which came in a timely fashion which we ate with their yummy garlic bread. Their saganaki is a MUST! Basically, itâs some sort of Greek cheese which is breaded and fried and served with lemon wedges....to die for! We also ordered kapanisti, a thick, spicy red pepper dip, also delish. Meals ranged from chicken pita platters to doner pita platters and souvlaki stick platters, all served with fries and salad. After the meal, our waiter brought out the birthday cake and after we sang to the birthday people and they blew out the candles, our waiter took the cake away and sliced it up and served it to us. There was no charge for this service. Marathonsâs...always delicious and always good value.

Food- 3 starsService- 2 starsDecor- 3 starsValue- 2 starsWe were 2 couples and sat on the balcony. Beautiful evening and looking forward to a nice meal. That unfortunately was not to happen. First off, no tasting menu like their Griffintown location. Instead, I guess they figure the lack of competition in Westmount allows them to gouge clients. $22 for a small plate of calamari and $18 for a plate of zucchini chips. Tzaziki was flavourless as well. The real kicker was their $55 rib steak. It was inedible because of all the sinew. I decided to give up on it half way through it and when I mentioned it to Cosmo, our waiter, his response was,"youâre the first one to complain," really. Was charged full pop. Certainly wonât be back to either location. My friends werenât impressed either. Something must be wrong if you have a 3 star rating. Save yourself the aggravation and go to a real Greek restaurant.

Recently went here for a pair of family Birthday celebrations. Menu hasn't changed much since our last visit with the exception of the addition of a New York Strip Steak. We tried it as well as the Hamburger Steak. I must say the hamburger steak was better than the New York Strip. It might have been just two bad cuts but there was a lot of gristle in both steaks. The service was ok, nothing special. The prices are OK, a tad high for what you get.
