Restaurant Poseidon

Reviewed By Marichan X

We were hungry and tired after a visit to Kunsthalle and this restaurant was practically opposite. Even though we were not necessarily craving Greek food, the menu seemed very varied and so we did not look further. Shortly after we had sat down, the proprietor or senior boss came to our table and greeted us with a handshake. Drinks and food arrived very quickly and my lamb was very nice, if suspiciously hot (microwave?). The deliberate burn-marks on the chicken filet in my Mum's salad also looked a tad "over-engineered", but she was pretty happy with it even though she would have preferred a vinaigrette dressing rather than a yoghurt/mayo one. All in all, probably not the most sophisticated culinary experience to be had in Bregenz, but good enough and at very decent prices. Would revisit when in town again.

This small comfortable place a few minutes' walk from the art-oriented center of Bregenz is a nice evocation of a taverna in some small Greek town: it resembles some we ate in on the island of Hydra. It's very unlike the big fancy Greek restaurant opposite the museum -- a completely different feel.A very small place seating maybe sixteen or twenty people tops -- plain tables and ladderback chairs, everything blue and white, with a handpainted mural on one wall. The owner/host has a little English, enough to handle orders: most of our interactions with him were in German. We used the German menu, so I'm not sure if there were English-language ones, but the host helped us with anything we weren't sure about. Nothing at all fancy about the food, but this isn't fast food: the owner takes the right amount of time and care over it. Last time we were there my husband had the kokkinisto )a pork stew in tomato sauce with rice on the side): I had spit-grilled lamb skewers. (I'm not a big Greek-food fan, though my husband is; mostly I stick to grilled meat when eating Greek, and these were terrific.)White and rose retsina to drink, and coffee with Metaxa afterward: a perfect lunch for a warm day, in a comfy welcoming place. And reasonably priced, too. Highly recommended. Will add images of the food later if possible.

Der Grieche Im Langenweg

After a morning in a natural habitat in Austria, just like ver the German border, we stopped by Lindau for lunch. My sister recommended this Greek restaurant to us for lunch. We were immediately seated and soon after ordered our food. Our girls had the children's chicken nuggets, my sister had ordered a Greek baked cheese for starters while my husband and I shared octopus. That was delicious. For the main my sister had souvlaki, my husband had trout and I ordered grilled squid with cheese and tomatoes with tomato rice. The food was cooked very well. No complaints from us.
